I counted 15 chips.
Would that be too much for 4x8?
How does 12 sound? So that I can use 3 hlg185c1400 drivers, one for each set of 4 cobs.
To do an entire 4x8, 12 isn't gonna be enough I fear. Unless you were running 2100-3200mA pulling 74+ watts a piece. You'd be better off using the 16. 2 fixtures like mine, minus the Eco and far red pontoons obviously....

15 would not be too much for 4 x 8 imo, thats only 750w using those drivers.even a de wont really cover that space.16 would be nice and use just 4 of those drivers

And don't just hop on the 1400mA train because it's what all the kits are. Go big. Get 2100mA. Shit use hlg320h-c2800B. That's like the max I think that cxb3590's are capable of. But you can just dim to whatever you want. You can put 3 on each one.

You'd get way bigger nugs with cobs I guarantee it. Running that high amperage, and that many spaced out over each 2sq ft, would just be so ideal. I hate HPS. So intense, Hot, Hazardous, and power consuming.
im gunna make you eat your words in a few weeks when you see 2 clones,1 is under 15 cobs and 1 is under a 750de set @700w and the 1 under the de is about 1 foot taller and is 10 days younger lol.right now its not looking good on this strain in my eyes but maybe ill be surprised by the weight under the cobs idk.

Clones from same mama, same size/length/# of nodes&leaves & rooted same time?

I couldn't tell you. I was 16 and didn't really know too much. Then I stopped growing for a decade. But I do still have pics from it! :PView attachment 3748987
One grow, one of your first, if not the, and trying to compare to a dacad later is not a comparison of anything.
Do you really think you have the expireance to say that a cob will produce "bigger buds" than a 750DE?

You can say cobs do "X"...sort of you have one run under them.
But you definitely have no grounds to say HPS does "Y".
Stretching and horrible attempts at decade later extrapolations of nothing is poor for LED progress.
Stick with only what is. Not what could be.

yes same same, running this cut going on 7 years now.

lol yeah 15 cob vs 1 de no match.but you said 16 cob vs 2 de would be in the cobs favor.i dont think it would be with 2 de in a 4 x 8 but maybe.i do know that setup you advised of 16 cobs x 2800ma would be at least double the price if not triple lol.thats why i said might as well grab 2 de and be done with it

I still stand by my thinking. I truly believe 16, 4 of each 2700,3000,3500,4000K alll mixed up, cobs at 2100ma+ would definitely win in a side by side with a DE.
