making my own cool tube

Measure it and your bulb and consider some of the glass has to be overlapped by where the ducts mount to it. I think it's too short which will affect your light spread.

And should your fan stop while the lights on it would probably crack, those aren't made for really high heat like that and they're pretty thin usually. I don't know, you've seen it in person.

Me, I'd wait it out to get the bake-a-round from ebay.

i have seen it done that way b4 it really how u want 2 do i

best of luck with ur cool tube post it when u finish it bongsmilie
i was looking at ebay but they are same price as if i would by that thing from wal-mart. would the candle holder glass from wal-mart be okay? :peace:

thanks for tips! I'll defiantly post it when I'm done. i just gotta wait for that slow ass ups truck to get here with my blower to start.

go to hobby lobby and buy a hurricane vase. It works and i know from personal expierence it will. Go to hobby lobby they are only like 10 dollars.

Ive been hear myself . You will be much much happier when you buy a real cooltube and use anything from a 250w till a 1000w ballast

Those old oil lamps is what your looking for to make 1 to buy them second hand is nearly the price of a cooltube

If heats a issue then a cooltube is a must like myself . Using them does take some of the light intencity away also .

i'd rather make one myself, i don't have the cash to buy the luxury of a real cool tube so this is my only option.

the bake a round is only 3/12 diameter and i have a 6" fan going so that means i need 6" ducting....is there some kind of adapter that would make this cool tube fit to my ducting? thanks for the replies!
