i've been hanging my weed next to a small fan for about 4 days...the buds are small so i'd imagine that it doesnt need a lot of dry time..they feel kinda crispy....is it time to curE???

bend your stems and see if you get any resistance, if it snaps then definitely cure if the buds are crispy and the stem still gives resistance then cure em if your stems are still super soggy and bendy then it needs more time

If you feel they are dry to the touch, then by all means get 'em in jars, or whatever you plan to do to complete the cure. Don't cram 'em in there . . . just full, but on the loose side. Leave sealed 24 hours, then start your burping routine, like open the jar 5 mins. twice a day, or whatever. Don't cut the buds from the stems yet. Cure need that stem moisture, IMO. When the stems snap instead of bending, you can trim the buds off. The less air in the jars, the better.
I noticed my buds dry from the top (of the hanging bud) down the stem to the lower buds on the same stalk, so be sure you check that before declaring them "dry-to-the-touch."
Mold smells before it's seen, IMO.
This is based on buds being reasonably sized. HUGE buds probably require other steps, but I wouldn't know about that . . . yet!

wait so is this rite..

1-cut plant down
2-trim off fan leaves and other leaves to satisfaction
3-hang dry until stem snaps
4-put in jars, burp a couple times daily

how long should they be in jars until they're ready to be smoked?

1: cut plant at bottom.
2: hang WITH leafs on
3: trim leafs
4: cure
5: smoke

drying and curing can take anything from 5 days to 2 weeks each. could be a total of 4 weeks. depending on a few things.

It's personal preference as to whether you remove fan and trim leaves before or after drying. I personally like to do it before drying because it's a shite load easier, but I don't trim the trim leaves very much because they're generally covered in trichs anyway.

A proper air dry and cure in jars typically takes anywhere from 2 - 10 days to dry and then 30 days in the jars (burbing every day for the first week or two) for it to properly cure.

If you want a faster cure than 32 - 40 days, then check out water curing, it takes bout 9 days from chop till it's fully cured and smokeable :D

WHat are the benefits of the water method besides quicker drying?

it doesnt really matter as stated above. u can take them off if u wish

dry as long as they take. some of the leafs have thc on. if these are dried as well then u can get away with slacking on trimming after. plus, if ur making hash, the leafs will be dry.

I take the leaves and trim off first and either dry it separately, or make hash right then and there, the leaves and trim don't need to be dried to make hash.

Read the links, it says the advantages there... :D
