Between two LED lights...

So my grow tent budget just increased exponentially :weed:

I am doing LED for various reasons but have come down between 2 brands/3 setups.

Note: My tent will be 4x2x4 (HxDxW)

OPTION 1:

2 x G8LED 240 LED Panels

http://www.dormgrow.com/240-watt-led-grow-light.html

OPTION 2:

I was given an open box deal by Platinum LED for 2 x P150 LED Panels

https://platinumgrowlights.com/products/p150

or

OPTION 3:

Suck it up and invest in 2 x P300 LED Panels from Platinum LED

https://platinumgrowlights.com/products/p300

Just trying to figure out what is my best route as my understanding of LED growing is that it can be finicky under the wrong set up.

I am open to any other LED suggestions mind you I will have to cap it at 700 total...even that is a lot.

Personally the 2 x P150s sound most appealing for the price I was offered (They are usually 220 each) and with that I can maybe even by a red UFO for flowering. However I have heard mixed reviews about them while the G8LED series seems to be backed by a solid reputable company

Thanks guys bongsmilie

I have heard a little bit about area 51 lights. You would suggest 2 of these then? And also is this recommendation based on quality or will this provide better yield and quality etc as well??

Even though they are 150s compared to a possible purchase of 240s?

sorry I am new to all this
All wattage is not created equal. The LEDs in the platinum and dormgro panels are cheaper and less efficient which means more of the wattage used is converted into heat rather than light. Area51 uses more efficient LEDs in their panels which means they produce more light, produce less heat and will last longer.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just looked at some grow journals and they look pretty good. I saw one person complaining that they use white LEDs for their vegetative setting claiming it was a lazy cop out. I do notice that most other LEDs are purple in color. Any thoughts on this?

I appreciate your help man thank you

In regards to "blurple" as some call the combo of only red and blue LEDs, it was early on a misconception that plants only needed those wavelengths. But the truth is those wavelengths are simply the bare minimum needed to sustain a plant. A lot of folks, myself included, have found the entire spectrum (white) and in flowering white plus extra red are ideal and give plants a closer spectrum to that of the sun. Health and yield increase under white or white + red compared to only blue and red.

Go to the LED section and ask these same questions, and they will prevent you from making the costly mistake you're about to make.

Most of these brands are crap. G8, Platinum, mars, etc. Area51 is quality, but I'd wait for their new vero 29 based model if you want to get area51. Optic vero also has a vero 29 based model.

Your best bet with LED, however, is DIY led with cxb or vero. A DIY build can easily run at a higher efficiency than even the top of the line LED models, and will even beat DE HPS.

If you want to go forward with the shit led models, you're better off with HPS or CMH.

DIGGING UP AN OLD THREAD.

Platinum LED has the best PAR of any LED on the market inclduing Area 51.

Platinum and Kind LED k5 are by far the best lights.

Lies, lies, please go away.....we are not going to compare 1000 watts of 20% efficient LED to 150 watts of almost 40% efficiency......that game gets oldy...Roldee
Of mate you are far from correct.
Most LED are not that great which is true.
But HPS is old news and anyone who does not know this is mistaken.
Platinum LED has the highest PAR of any grow lights.
From 12, 18, 24 INCHES.
Kind K5 also is in second and third is Lush.
LED gives the plants the exact spectrum they need.
LED haters are just absurd. If you knew anything about Plants at all you would know this.
Check out there youtube chennel as they compare PAR to other grow lights LIVE.

Getting 1.2 to 1.8 GPW all depending on how many plants in one space.

HPS is ok but LED is by far the best and saves you money in the longrun.

Enough said.

Your claims cannot be backed up with HPS. Checkout the grows here.

Hey mate, hope you don't mind me pulling up this thread again. I'm looking at different LED options and just wondered why you think Platinum are lying about their claims? Just hoping to get a little insight on which LED's to go for and why. Cheers

NO PROB. I sound like a raving loon there.

Pled has reputation for misleading customers, for straight up impersonating another company, and for lying about their product and its performance. Pled has the rare distinction of being terminated as a sponsor at 420. Now at 420 it is like a snake oil sales carnival. Still Pled got the hook.

You can search riu for pled info.

However just like Mars or Kind, Pled will grow acceptable flowers. The fucked up part is that you pay a premium for gear that is old tech/inefficient and also not especially reliable. There are far superior options,

Do plenty of research before you decide. There is a lot to learn about the physics of light and just as much about the connivers who will slsp s shiny label, post some stoner science then say and sell anything for a fucking cent.

If you've got the time and inclination DIY is unquestionably the best value. RIU is the spot for DIY.
