150 Watt HPS?

Was checking out Ebay and they have a Floralux 150 watt HPS complete for $65 shipped. Was thinking about trying HID and was wondering if this would be enough for a 1 plant micro grow? I already have 2 UFO LED and CFL that all work fine, just thinking I might try something new.

150 watts enough for a single plant probably an auto?

Thanks for the info I may try it for $65 just because everyone seems to think HID is better than LED and CFL which I have both. I always got those to use for supp if needed. I dunno. We'll see but thanks guys for responding.
 
Whoa brother I got some shit you'll like to see. I used to have a 3000w garden but due to certain circumstances I no longer have that big of a set up but, since I can't see myself smoking reggie or bs weed I now have a small 2x2 tent with a 150 hps.

Homemade cross, Ron Burgunday x purple Moroccan. My friend named it Purple MoRon

That's a good price if it comes with a bulb... They do get warm since the ballast is attached. I run two of them side by side. They work fine. It will rock an autoflower in a small space. I usually dedicate one 150 per plant. Just make sure to replace the bulb every grow to keep the lumens up.

Sunny you only do one per light? Is that because you run autos and can't top or train them? I ask because I run 4 in a perpetual garden. Photos only and I top and LST them. I pull 1 1/2-2oz every 2 weeks. I also have plenty of side lighting and I believe it is key with a 150hps. Here is a shot of my whole garden with the light raised and some lights off for the pic.

Another thing is it does not have deep penetration (the way your mom likes it!:P) so you've got to keep it pretty close.

I've also done just one big plant that I topped , supercroped, and LST'd and it yeilded 4 1/4 oz here are some pics of that one.

Man that is some awesome looking med. On just a 150? I'm impressed! I might just have to try one and see what it can do compared to my cheap old Chinese LEDs. I think it will be pretty easy to keep my temps down. Since I have plenty of area and just a few fans can ventilate it quickly. I probably wouldn't bother but $65 is cheap enough I'm not making a big investment. I actually am always trying different stuff and sense I only need enough for personal I don't need a large harvest of it doesn't work out so well.

Yes a 150 HPS will rock a single auto!!! I would even throw in my UFO's to supplement and grow a tree in a 5-7 gallon pot. Heat will be an issue, do you have a scrubber? I think I will pick one up for the winter months. Can't beat it for $70

They even make an add on flange for this light so it can be air cooled but, it's not included with that light on ebay. Yet it is only a $4 add on if you order the light from HTG but, they charge for ship and it comes out to the $86 with the flange added from HTG site.

Anyway, I tend to find out as much as I can when I buy new stuff and just thought I would share that little info. I think I could probably get it without the flange and do fine with fans blowing the heat away.

Yes I have 2 old Chinese LEDs and some ginormous 65 actual watt CFLs to supp with. The reason I am thinking 150 watts rather than 250 or 400 is cause I try to be efficient and think using those higher watts in 1 small plant is overkill and wasteful$$$$.

It says 250/400 but I think te 150 uses the same housing reflector.

I think you are right on point with a 150 watt hps. I like to focus on a plant too. I think the 150 is not overkill and will make a difference compared to LED alone. Best of both worlds. Thank for the link. I think I will spoil myself with one too :-)

Lol I'll take that as a compliment. Although, I am full of shit (aren't we allo_O) just not about this. As I stated earlier yea I believe my side lighting is the key to denser, frostier?(<-- is that a word) buds. I supplement with 6500k cfl's because I'm a fan of mixed spectrum. In the thread "yeild?" By @nicksol86 I give a condensed version of my methods but there's like 9-10 pages you'd have to sift through. If you get a chance let me know what you think.
