let's compare other BLS numbers then, and see what comes out ahead.

let's talk about how this is a "wedge issue", even though it has not failed by popular vote in over 14 years. several republican states all voted overwhelmingly for minimum wage increases only days ago.

let's talk about the relation of minimum wage versus the tenth and twentieth percentile of wages after an increase.

let's see if what y9ou are saying has any basisi in actual economic reality.
Side show issue with little to no real impact. Fact. Also my main point. Americans continue to get poorer, unless part of the very wealthy. That will continue regardless of minimum wage.

How's your rent?

Wages have been stagnant for around 30 years. The wealthy have continued to have income and piece of the pie grow at a very large rato.

Now the top .1 has as much wealth as the bottom 90%. These numbers haven't aligned since 1929

Dang! Looks like this thread could use a ray of sunshine.

Here's a news item that should brighten everyone's spirit:

"Crump said [Michael] Brown's parents are pleased Baden will testify, but skeptical about the process.

"Their reaction was that they want the jury to hear from an independent witness not associated or controlled by the police department," Crump said. "They feel that all the local authorities are going to work together to try to exonerate the killer of their child."

*******Brown's parents were in Geneva, where the U.N. Committee Against Torture is hearing testimony this week about U.S. policies.

"It's very important for the family, making a powerful step toward justice," Michael Brown Sr. said at a press conference there. "We need your help. That's why we're here." ************

They need your help. Surely everyone wants justice served. Am i right? ;)

You're of the opinion that the U N Committee Against Torture has it's priorities in order then?
You do realize the UN is a very large entity capable of doing more than one thing at once correct? That it doesn't negate that police abuse and misconduct in the US is a problem?

Perhaps you don't think it is...

I agree that the U N is a very large entity. I disagree that they do anything, much less 'more than one thing at once' correctly.

Perhaps you'd explain the torture that Mr and Mrs Brown will testify to the U N Committee Against Torture? Known facts, please.

How police handled the situation on response to peaceful protests, the over militarization of our police forces. How minorities are treated by LEO...

I have no idea what else she'd testify to, but we certainly have problems in our police departments.

We have an armored mine vehicle up here in the mountains... this is a tourist town ... why the hell do we need a $600k army vehicle in our small town?

OH and the police are all happy they got it for free... but who the fuck paid for it... we all did!

Yep, we all did. Apparently police departments forget where their paychecks come from. Nothing is really free.
They are socializing our children to think it is acceptable too which is bullshit. They posted it up for Halloween on treat street where all the kids were congregating and let them look at how "cool" it was and go in and out of it lol...

They also ride up to our community college in it when they face off against the fire department.

The police jumped out like champions of justice from that thing and the firemen hopped out of their big ass engine. All this shit is for show and to make it seem like its some harmless shit when the truth is we could be building actual shit that we need with that money instead of further militarizing our police force.

Im not even awake right now this shit just drives me nuts.

I have only seen one bearcat, and I started flipping out instantly because it was only a mile from where I was growing at the time and they were staging in . A savers parking lot getting ready for a big raid because they were rolling heavy. Calmed myself down easily because I was on my way to work so I wouldnt be getting flashbanged lol. Plus if all that was for lil ol me then they have some bad intel.

Military contracts need to be fulfilled on the tax payer dime. The old (still like new) stuff trickles down to local law enforcement. Conservatives are up-in-arms over our national debt, but see no problem with dropping trillions on military equiptment that we don't need.

But god forbid a single mother of 3 gets food stamps

Some of those single moms are in that situation through no fault of their own. Then there's the other 95%. ba da boom

So, you peeps seem to have much disdain for cops and law enforcement - do you favor disbanding them and the national guard?

I favor removing the financial incentives that allow them to steal peoples personal property, and keep it, regardless of whether charges are filed or not.

Surely as a pot smoker you can acknowledge the lunacy in that

Me? A pot smoker? :o You know us LEO are discouraged from that [ba da boom]....but if I were, and even if I were not, I definitely side w/you on that.

I assume then, that even w/ the corruption, you prefer not to disband police and NG ? I'll tell you this, amigo - there's not enough cash or THC in this world that could entice me to be in law enforcement....I mean...if I wasn't already. :-D

i don`t favor disbanded either, but i do favor letting do their jobs. the police should be police and the military needs to be the military, one shouldn`t try and do the others job. what we`ve seen happening lately is the police have turned into a military force, and very few of police force even have a clue of what that means.

No, not all police are bad. I think the culture and unchecked abuses are pervasive.

And people seem to think welfare in any form is bad, until it's them and they need a leg up. Is the goal to make poverty more pervasive in our nation?? Should children pay for their parents perceived wrongs?
