Let me repeat this so we don't blither unnecessarily......if Californians want to legalize abortion, fine....I won't move there if I disagree..If Utah wants to make abortion illegal, fine.....I won't move there if I disagree....are we straight.

But Florida girl, on a serious note. dont you think the father of the baby should have some kind of legal say in the abortion taking place?

The thing is, if you get an abortion, his baby is going too. but if you choose not to, he has to pay child support, hes legally bound to the child. there should at least be a legal tie IMO. :peace:
Excellent point.....

I agree for the most part

but abortion is so sad:cry:

Yes it is... and it's not a decision to be made lightly. The bottom line has to be that you can't FORCE a woman to carry some dividing cells if she choses not to.

Should a woman who was raped be forced to have her rapist's baby? Should a 12 year old who is a victim of incest be forced to have a child that is her sibling? Should a woman who in a drunken state of mind made a mistake and pay for it forever... while the man who made the same poor choice simply slinks away?

This is a clear cut issue! The woman makes the choice because it is her body!

I'm not advocating abortion... I'm advocating choice. I'm advocating freedom to make personal decisions without government, religious or OTHER interference. I want to make decisions for myself and no one else..... the burden of their choice is theirs and not for me to judge or try and regulate.

I agree. However, the law sides with the mother.

Like the death penalty, I'm ambiguous about abortion. Personally, I am against both, but I understand why society tolerates each.

As far as I'm concerned, both issues are better decided by the individual states as per the 10th Amendment.

Of course not, these are obviously different circumstances. But how is it fair that she alone gets to make a choice that will affect many people's lives without the father's consent? She chose to have sex, and so did he. Do you see my point, she can choose to change so many people's lives and they have no say in it?

It's the larger question of exactly when that choice was made.

From my perspective, the woman who spreads her legs makes the choice to reproduce, just as the guy who gives it to her is rolling the dice that he will be on the hook for child support. By using abortion as means of birth control, she is choosing to reverse the previous decision by killing the fetus. A choice the father does not have after the fact.

Rape and insect are exceptions, of course.

Funny (not) how you "womens right" (damn Vi, your good) advocates throw in that third one........
"Should a woman who in a drunken state of mind made a mistake and pay for it forever".....are you speaking from personal experience, and that is why you take it so personally...?......does it make it right, to you?..... if a drunk driver kills a family, can they get an abortion and forget about it the next day, BECAUSE THEY WERE DRUNK?? HELL NO......get real. "Your body" is a weak argument. My "man with a gun" should show you that......We live in a society..... deal with it, or move....

NOPE... as a woman I don't agree at all! Someday they will figure out how a man can carry an embryo to term and then deliver via cesarean .... then if he wants it HE CAN HAVE IT! Until that day... it is the woman's body and the woman's choice.

As to the man / child support thing... well .... perhaps men should think twice before they go sticking their dick wherever they can! Don't want a baby and LIFELONG commitment to it ..... then don't have sex with a woman or get a vasectomy.

BTW...I'm very much in favor of a "male birth control pill" to help men in their "right to choice" endeavor. Until that day comes.... the right to choice is the woman's alone.. PERIOD!

I understand where your coming from, and i dont want you to think i dont have compassion for woman. but do you see the double standard there?

I think if i woman is gonna get an abortion, the man should need to sign off on it, and if he doesnt, she can still get the abortion but is no longer liable for child support. in that case is its still the womans choice but hes not part of something he didnt have a say in

Is this the real life-
Is this just fantasy-
Caught in a landslide-
No escape from reality-
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see-
I'm just a poor boy,i need no sympathy-
Because i'm easy come,easy go,
A little high,little low,
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me,
To me

Mama,just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head,
Pulled my trigger,now he's dead,
Mama,life had just begun,
But now i've gone and thrown it all away-
Mama ooo,
Didn't mean to make you cry-
If i'm not back again this time tomorrow-
Carry on,carry on,as if nothing really matters-

Too late,my time has come,
Sends shivers down my spine-
Body's aching all the time,
Goodbye everybody-i've got to go-
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth-
Mama ooo- (any way the wind blows)
I don't want to die,
I sometimes wish i'd never been born at all-

I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouche, scaramouche will you do the fandango-
Thunderbolt and lightning-very very frightening me-
Galileo,galileo,
Galileo galileo
Galileo figaro-magnifico-
But i'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me-

He's just a poor boy from a poor family-
Spare him his life from this monstrosity-
Easy come easy go-,will you let me go-
Bismillah! no-,we will not let you go-let him go-
Bismillah! we will not let you go-let him go
Bismillah! we will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go let me go
No,no,no,no,no,no,no-
Mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go-
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me,for me,for me-

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye-
So you think you can love me and leave me to die-
Oh baby-can't do this to me baby-
Just gotta get out-just gotta get right outta here-

Nothing really matters,
Anyone can see,
Nothing really matters-,nothing really matters to me,

Any way the wind blows....

When was the last time you looked at child support figures? It's PATHETIC! You all clamor about being "on the hook" for it... but the reality is.... single women raise kids alone WITHOUT child support in this country WAY more then they do WITH child support!

The argument of child support is a JOKE at best!

In a forum of mostly men I'm not surprised to see the opinion that woman should be FORCED by a government ... also predominately of men to do what they say!

It's a shame they ever let us vote in the first place right?
