Grow database...Anyone interested?

I wasnt sure where to post this, so if this is in the wrong place, please accept my apoligies in advance.

Basically I am looking to make a grow database. I figured I would start simple and build upon it as I go along. The thing is, I am new to growing and I am sure there are things I will overlook. So what I am asking is, would anyone be interested in having something like this for their own use? If so, are there any specific things you would want to be part of the database?

The general idea is that you would enter your grow details, and over time you would have a way to report on various things such as grow times, strain performance, light cycles, feeding schedules etc. Theoritically then, you could report on various items and see what's going on over time. I envison being able to pull reports on growth rate, etc., as well.

The key obviously is in the planning. And whilst all the "features" I envision, or have requested may not be available initially, it's best to know that these things will be implemented at a later date, therefore making the design scalable.

So having said that, please leave your comments, requests, or other feedback on this idea.

Thanks everyone!

I have a concept release for those of you who are interested. As I said in my original post, I want to get thoughts on what should be included and tracked. I dont want to spend alot of time reworking things if I can avoid it by planning ahead. "Plan more now, work less later." :) For that reason, the concept is fully functional, but it doesnt have alot of features. Once I have a good idea as to what to include intially, I will post an update.

I would like to ask, if you download, Please take a second to comment, leave suggestions, or simply say you have downloaded it. I would really like to gauge what the interest in something like this is. Or maybe just to let others know it is safe and easy to install. :)

Cheers

The concept release has been updated to include dates for plant stages. If you have already installed the previous releases, you will need to uninstall prior to installing the latest version.

PLEASE NOTE:This is a concept release, and for comment/evaluation, and as such has no facility to back up any data entered. If you choose to install a newer version you WILL lose all data previously entered.

It seems its impossible to edit posts after a certain amount of time. So in order to keep this thread tidy and easy to read, I am going to start posting future updates on this thread. The updates will always be posted here (provided I am always able to edit it. So always check here for the latest version. I will simply add a new thread with the build number as the title when a new version is being released.

Build 4
This builds adds functionality to add notes for a plant, as well as testing a "number of days" tracker.

Build 5
This build shows how watering and feeding (soil grows) would be recorded. Added the ability to delete records.

The lastest build implements a notes system for each plant, and also includes a "number of days" function test.

Please leave comments or feedback. Ideas are logged and scheduled for inclusion in future releases.

Build 5 shows how watering and feeding would be recorded. You could also use this for hydro systems, but there are plans to implement resevoir tracking later. Also added the ability to delete plant records.

Look in the thread "Housekeeping--Latest Build" above for download link.

I am looking for people who are interested in testing a BETA release of the application. The BETA will include the ability to backup and restore the data, so there will be no risk in losing data when new versions are installed. I will be issuing a limited number of BETA license keys for this test. The BETA software will not work without the license key.

Interested testers must be willing to test the software by populating it with data, deleting data, editing data, installing, uninstalling, backing up, restoring data etc. It is also expected that testers will provide regular feedback of their progress and testing.

If you are interested in BETA testing, please send me a PM and I will contact you with details and a download link for the BETA release.
