speeding up rooting any tips? it takes me ten days till first signs of roots. I use jiffy seven pelets but i am currently trying rapid rooters, i use a 48" flouresent with cool blue or the chroma GE 50 ones when i can find em, a propagination try and a heat mat. I take clones roughly 3 to 5 inches i cut at a node on a 45 degree and scrape away a little of the hard shell(if i dont they seem to take 15 days to root) then i dip them in clonex or my old method dipping in water then root tone powder and into a jiffy seven and propagination tray which i open for a few minutes every day if not when i plant them in soil with out a dome they die in a day or two.. any tips or ideas on how i can root in like 3-7 like the guy at store says he can...i need ur contributions no matter how small

im in the same boat as u, 3-7 days would be awesome
fuck 3-7, be happy with rooting ALL ur clones at all, 2 weeks really is the benchmark,..
Uve already made a good move by changing to rapidrooters, u will/can get alot higher success with RR's imo..
light isnt really that important at all, less the better really for fresh clones..
Dont take the lid off at all is something id reccomend, just lift the corner and blow on them (ur breathe) for co2 twice a day, otherwise u lower the humidity by takin the lid off... And another thing id reccomend is keeping the temps high, like 85 at least..
ive been doing this lately in party cups of straight coco and ive been getting profuse roots in 9 days.. if they were profuse in 9, then they were probably well rooted in 7 says.. and BAM theres ur magic number

I pretty much do mine the same exact way as the OP, but have better results. Mine almost always root in 4-6 days, and I've only lost one so far, and I've done 75 or so. Hmm.....Let me go copy/paste a explanation i typed earlier, explaining how i use the jiffy pellets, because that could be your problem.

I'll be right back.

""I also use jiffy pellets, and didn't have much luck with them at first, and had quite a few die. Here's what i do now, with excellent results.....After I expand the pellets with water, I give them a good squeeze to get alot of the water out. Then I roll them between my hands, squeezing them, which breaks up the peat. You don't really have to do this part, but i'm a freakling perfectionist, so i do it anyway.LOL......I then take a nail and break up the chunks of peat inside the pellet, so it's nice and fluffy. Then I gently form it back into it's original shape, and poke a hole in it with the nail, in the center. Make the hole so that it doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the pellet, and it's a little bigger around than the clipping you plan to use. Now here's the most important part, and the part where I was making the mistake.....Make sure that after you insert the clipping into the pellet, that you give it a nice firm squeeze, forming it around the clone, making sure that it's making good firm contact with the entire length of the clipping. That, is what makes them root well.""

Other than that, my temperatures are high, between 80* and 85* all the time. One more thing....I never keep the pellets really wet. After I wet them the first time, i only give them a light mist with a spray bottle, once a day. Being too wet can slow them down alot, so that could be your problem. :)

EDIT: I've used both the cloning gel, and the powder, with the same results.

No bs, the most important part for anyone who reads this to take away with them is
Make sure that after you insert the clipping into the pellet, that you give it a nice firm squeeze, forming it around the clone, making sure that it's making good firm contact with the entire length of the clipping. That, is what makes them root well.""

i shouldve just listed the EXACT same 3 things to start with!! if there is only one slight deviation its that i dont really think they need a mist once a day if u keep up the humiditiy

^I agree with the "misting" comment. I think the main reason i do it, is so that I get to be close to my babies.

Another is when you take from mama plant. You can just use sizzors them scrape and cut off at bottom just befor it's going in to root.

thamks guys. I actually just read that you should dip them quickly after cutting this i normally do but not to scrape it because it could lead to air becoming trapt inside the stalk which leads to slow rooting or no rooting due to some kind of natural vacuum the plant uses to abosorb moisture up the stem and let it evaporate across the leaves idk.. but 7-10 is good from what i hear! what about dipping solutions whats everybody use?

kinda glad i read this thread... so i am getting clones this weekend, so when i take the cuttings, i should dip them in the solution before i make the trip back to my house, or will a little car ride be fine before they go in the cloning unit?

i would just do the whole process, put them in the cloner then put them in the car
