Alarm Systems and Grows

just a heads up to anyone who has an alarm system. if the central station recieves an alarm from your house & call the police, they have a right to go in and search the house.
I work for a small local alarm company & 1 of my customers told me a horror story that happened last yr to him.his daughter didn't close the door tightly on her way to school & it blew open setting off an alarm. he got the call from us & drove home to find the police in his house. in his spare bedroom closet was a sheriff's unifom belonging to his brotherinlaw who was staying w/ him after his wife throw him out. cop didnt believe his story & arrested him for stolen property.it was all straightened out when they finally got ahold of the brotherinlaw but after he was booked and held for a few hrs
most alarm companies can remove the police from your contact list or not dispatch if a contact is reached if you tell them to.
also police can't enter any rooms or closets that are locked so lock your closet & the room it is in
stay safe...mc

Good info man. I have an alarm in my house and I am growing in my closet. I have a lock on the door of the closet too. I do not set the alarm during the day while I am at work incase it does somehow go off and the police are called. I just use the alarm at night time so I can sleep better incase somebody trys to break in.

same here. I live in mayburry so no crime but I do have teenage daughters so the alarm is more to keep kids in than thieves out but it is nice to not worry when you hear a noise cause if it was in the house, the alarm would be wailing

i would opt to put in an alarm that just makes a shitload of noise (if they exist).. no need to call anyone.. the noise scares the thieves.. if the thief is dumb enough to stick around, they can choose between 12gague hollowpoints or shredders or a 45 cal /hollowpoints :p

a shotgun is only good if you are home. I agree about the noise, I have 2 30watt sirens outside that rock my neighborhood but they are delayed 30 sec after the smaller inside one goes off, this way if I set it off,the neighbors dont hear it

Thanks for reminding me! I starting using my old grow room, I have to find the key lol.

But either way, if you don't have the smell under control, your screwed :(

good info to put out there... locks in closets are important, even if they don't have plants in them...

My alarm is set up to actually text my cell phone. Then I can go to the nearest computer and by putting the Static IP address of my DVR ( Digital Video Recorder) in the URL bar it will pull up my camera system, which I can then use to see if anything is amiss. 4 outdoor cameras hidden under the soffits and 5 indoor cameras. My grow room is locked at all times with access control, there is no door handle or knob, a 8000 pound electromagnet holds the door closed and the only way you can get in is by presenting the proper credentials, once you pass your key fob in front of the reader the magnet releases and you can easily push the door open. The reader is hidden right behind the wall under 1/16 inch of wood so no one would be able to figure out where it is to read in even if they found the credentials.

I got security.

i can bypass a vista 20 in about... 5 secs from the keypad >:)

but i have a license for it tho ;)
You mean you can bypass a vista 20 that is still using the default installer password and isn't armed. The installer password won't do jack shit if the panel is armed other than send me a unauthorized user alarm and send you to jail or hospital.

in 20 years of working the security industry I have never met anyone who had a license, none of the major banks require it and so having one must be something new they just came out with because as far as I know, there is no such thing.

I am licensed, in the socialist peoples republic of new York State, you must be licensed to work on alarms. just another tax.
