Tribute Grow to DWC grow club!

Hey clubber's started a new grow. All kinds of new things going on lately. Few different strains. Plan on getting serious about incorporating a sort of soil grow shelve system to utilize lighting and grow more bud.
Learned alot here. Hope I can give a little back. Sorry about the absence been busy with a move..Got a promotion at work but I felt I needed and wanted to do this for my friends here at RIU!

Built a tent..
In Veg.
Germed some seeds and using a 175 watt MH over tub 1. Plants are only day 10-11 from germ start. Doing great one of the faster beans is starting node 2.
My bucket is somewhere around 9 days from germ. Didnt write that one down sorry bros. Got 2 - 42 and 2 -28 watt daylight cfl's on the bucket.
Heres what i got right now.
Plan on going to flower with the seedlings and maybe snatching a male to pollinate and make more beans.
But im also going to try my hand at the sog again... Al b fuct all the way. Only DWC style manipulated.
This time all Environmental conditions will be met and monitored full time. And corrected along the way.
Heres the tub.

As stated I started one of these a couple days later. And then a few more a couple days after that. Had a few problems germing but got um str8ned out quickly and only lost one bean.
10 of 11 doesnt sound bad but Im shooting for 100 percent next time.

As stated I had a couple problems with some of my beans during germ...
I used tap water like i usually did but learned a lesson very fast..
Never cared till now really. Always just threw a handfull of beans on a papertowel.Folded them up and put about a half inch of water in a small plastic party cup and into a dark cool cupboard. Let the water dissipate but keep moist until i got THE Seedlings i needed.
Learned this time especially after putting down some coin it pays to be less careless. I almost killed a few this time.
Noticed right away that some of the tap roots got a tan discoloration on them.
Beleive it or not. A dro store clerk of all people after learning of the situation reccomended that just switch the towels out with distilled water and a little peroxide to help with the infection. So i did. It worked and i believe it brought one of my seeds back to life over night. And sped up the germ process on the rest of them..

Didnt change much just using a 20 ounce party cup of distilled water and a cap full of 3% peroxide mix to soak and germ my seeds in.
Im changing the towels regularly for now on.

10 out of 11 beans just supplementing distilled water and peroxide into the soak and moistening stage of germ.. Ill be doing this exact thing for now on. Expecting faster results.

Sorry I havent done this sooner but ive been constantly changing things up trying to fine tune and make this perfectly right to work in my system.
Not perfect but Im confident now I wont be changing much at this point and hope this helps people growing DWC. The plugs work the best trust me. After much trial and error I learned the hard way. Last grow Most of my plants were a foot tall. Sexed and going into week 1-2 of 12/12.
Less than 31 days from seed....
Ive used tap water un Ph'd with no bother of checking ppm in the past and have had great harvest's at least i thought....
Decided to change all that up too.
Im now taking my plugs and squeezing them out in Distilled water a few times just like a spoungue to get the stagnant air out..
Next I take the plugs and tear them a bit with my thumbs.
Pix to follow. I tear them enough so i can place the seedling in them with no resistance so it rests in the plugs positioned flush with the pre-manufactured hole that comes in them.. But so I can Get a nice snug grip on the tap root it self. Its very simple.
Once i get the seedling placed in the plug i set it in the pot.. leaving just enough room to leave the top of the plug about a half inch to an inch below the top of the pot.. then i place hydroton around the plug..When the seedling seats itself and stretches enough i fill the rest of the way with hydroton flush with the top of the pot.
I put my water level about a half inch to an inch of water above the bottom of the pot's.Depending how much air i have pumping into the rock..
The trick here is ur rock before transplant of plug to pot.. WILL be wet. The plug will rest on wet rock..Not water.. But u will see bubbles splashing on the rock..
From there I choose to hand water my seedling's with 5-15 ml of ph'd water a day directly on the plug..
Remember the plugs are resting on wet rock as it is.. DO NOT OVERwater ur plugs.. Sometimes mine looks dry.
This forces the roots to grow down to the water and food supply usually within 2 - 5 days depending on the health of the beanlings before placement to plugs.
Anyways, Heres some pix of the plugs. What im using now and pretty much what im talking about.

Forgot to mention.
I dont feed my Seedling's until the taproots hit the water..
PH fluctuations are usually extratic during this time.
Ive been REcalibrating my PH pen daily and checking my RES twice a day.
And making corrections as Needed.
My tap water which is in the tub and bucket now ranges anywhere from 6.5 to 7.3 no lie.
PPM from. 400 to over 500.
Depending where i draw my water from being the filtered kitchen sink to the bath tub.
The point is im reaching for a consistent PH of 5.7 - 5.9..early...
After feeding its much easier to obtain a steady goal of 5.8. A sweet spot ive found that is good to try to maintain.
After a few days established and after feeding about 600 ppm max the PH tends to stabilize then its simple monitoring and correcting after top offs and res changes.

That should bring me entirely up too date..

Not much to update haha.. Here's a pixel of my strongest Diesel right now. Was the fastest seedling as well. LOL looks like ill be the only one posting in this thread.. Wont have much to skim back thru if i need some info tho i guess haha

Quick update.PPM 700 just fed them and they reacted nice to it by stetching there little fan leaves to the MH. PH 5.81.

hey dl, you might be trying to make an ez process (germing/transplanting) too technical. instead of putting a cup of water next to the paper towel, why not just directly dampen it? put it in a tupperware with lid, or zip lock bag and be sure to open it at LEAST once a day to allow fresh air to enter (this prevents mold). then just stick em in your medium. i use rockwool, which i presoak 24 hrs with nutes, and shake out the excess water and stick the germed seeds in there. I then put those in some sort of humidome (usually tupper ware with saranwrap over lid) and put under light till leaves open. (once again, open the humidome and allow fresh air to circulate for a minute or two at least ONCE per day) Bt after the leaves open, stick the cubes in your net pots and put em in the DWC and off they go!

Just for clearification purposes.. Im actually soaking my beans in the water in the cups im germing in..I wrote all that out fast. im gonna have to look back real fast and see if i screwed that up.. I just pop them in papertowels a lil distilled water a few drops of 3% peroxide and into the cabinet in the dark. And let them rip. Got 10 out of 11 beans this time. One never grew a tail got rusty on the tip and died before i could get some peroxide on it.

Yea, i ditched the AG, i have this rubber main bin, which i just cut holes to fit the AG grow nets, so i have like 4 gallons now, i think more, it will all be in the journal
