Final AK48 harvest...all cfl (pics)

Hello...well it's the end of the year for me. I just dried my 2nd harvest of AK48. !st harvest was great...potent smoke and I got 42.6 grams of it off my one plant grown under cfls.

This harvest my goal was 2 ounces (56 grams) off one plant all cfl grow. I actually vegged this one a week less than the first...but I fed her heavier than i did the first. I harvested at about the same time as I liked where the high was on the first.

I took a few pics with my shitty camera phone...not too detailed...but you get an idea of the amount well enough.

*drum roll* 54.2 grams. Damn missed 2 ounces by an 1/8th! But I did take the weight when dry and after I chopped everything into bite sized chunks...and after I removed the larger sized stems. So if I had left them in...I'd of been DAMN close to 2 oz.

FYI I used a 5' with two 40 watt bulb fluorescent bulbs fixture and seven warm 23 watt cfls and two cool 23 watt cfls on this plant.

blood meal in veg...Botanicare Sweet and
MG 15 - 30 - 15 in flower.

Awesome man. Few questions if you dont mind.
1.How was the odor of the ak48?
2.How big did the plant get?
3.How many days from seed?
4.Do you think the 5 foot floro tubes really work well? I ask bc my indicas seem to be sativas and are getting really tall. I could stand a 5 foot floro up near them and get lighting from floor to top of plant.
5.What exact floro tube did you use?

Thanks man + rep that shit is awesome!!

1. Strong odor with AK48. You either need odor control or to get used to your whole house smelling like weed for a few months.

2. 3 feet tall. Dual cola dominance...2 secondary colas. (I topped it as I did the first...but the first had 4 equal colas...???)

3. 5 weeks veg. 53 - 56 days flower.

4. I do not think the tubes were very well utilized once the plant got past veg. Only the two main colas really benefited from the tubes overhead...the rest were too far away imo.

The individual cfls are far more useful in flower as you can position them and re-position them as often as need be. (I had to re-position cfls almost every other day it seemed...I like to rotate the plant and re-adjust lights so as to give a lot of plant a chance at as much light as possible) By running them sideways...that might get more plant coverage...but really cfls screwed into simple plug/bulb adapters and hanging off .99 cent cords...would work best imo)

5. Cool white tubes in 5' unit. Standard $20 shop work light.

very fucking nice. if i knew how to +Rep u i would. how many lumens were u pushing out? what kind of soil did u use? did u use any daylight bulbs for veg, or did u use the cool and warm cfls thru the whole thing.

You click on the small icon near your join date that looks like scales...but don't worry about rep'n me.

Well I generally think of watts not lumens but the math isn't hard...let's see:

The 23 watt cfls average 1650 lumens per bulb. 9 x 1650 = 14,850. The tubes are 40 watts and I'd guesstimate their lumens to be in the 2500 each realm. So 5000 for the pair. 5000 + 14,850 = 19,850.

I think that ONE of the cfls was daylight. One more was cool...seven were warm. The tubes are cool. I use all cool + that one daylight for veg...and then add the warms when it's flower time.

Standard potting soil from a nursery. It was $8 for the bag...not slow release ferts or anything like that. (bad idea) I do think that it said it had enough nutrients to start your plants off.

Nice buds my friend. I hope mine turn out as nicely.

What's next?
Thanks. I see no reason why they wouldn't.

Dutch Passion's Brainstorm and DNA Genetics Lemon Skunk. The seeds should arrive today or tomorrow I figure...

What size pot did you grow in? (Gallons?)
3 gallon pot.

I'd like to do next year's in 5 gallon buckets with holes punched through bottom. But I'd need to buy more cfls as the plant would grow that much bigger. Hmmm maybe a 150 watt hps used with my cfls...bah plenty of time to think about that kinda stuff.

Thats about the size i'm working with right now. I've got 2 of the 42w, and 3 65w working in a small area of the closet. (2plants share that light currently) But i've got about 6 extra 23w laying around so i been thinking about switching to the 5 gal buckets to see how far i can push it.

Are the 6 extra cfls...warm? If so...I'd use a few of them now to light up any area getting not enough close light. That's the advantage of lots of low watt cfls imo. You can focus on lighting 2 or 3 specific bud sites with each bulb. Can of course be a p.i.t.a. though. :)

I am thinking of scrog for next grow. I'd LOVE to be able to keep all of my lights level and train the plant to canopy.

I'll post a pic so you can check it out. I'd been paranoid about posting pics.. but a few shouldn't be to bad.

The extra's are soft white.
