The gnat problem has been cured by covering the soil with sand and letting the soil dry very thoroughly.

The first picture is the NL and the rest are group shots.

I am getting an air-cooled 600w HPS in about a week and I will start flowering around April 10th.

All of the plants have been LST since around march 15th
The first picture is the NL which was just topped and is standing at just over 8 inches.

Enjoy :eyesmoke:

Thanks. I just tied the D's down so that I had an even canopy of leaves with out covering any growth. As far as the NL, it was just topped a few days ago and isn't really tied down but more tied 'back' to keep it from being a lot taller than the D's.

I'll keep an eye on this one- plants are lookin damn good! I can't even tell you how old my plants are to be honest..I'd have to look when I first posted the journal, and then go back from there...

April 4th

Here is an update for everybody,

The plants are a little over 9 inches tall. I am getting my 600w HPS either tonight or tomorrow.

I am going to transplant them as soon as my HPS is installed.

Check out this Grow: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/169987-my-cfl-closet-journal-ak47-5.html starting from page 5 there is lots of info and pictures regarding LST training. The link on page 5 I posted is a GREAT LST guide. You can also follow the LST progress in the journal. It is pretty simple. You slowly bend the top of the plant over which cause several things to take place. The first thing that happens is the bottom of the plant is immediately exposed to the same amount of light as the top. The second thing that happens is the plant redistributes its growth hormones to try to have a full top again. This redistribution of hormones causes all of the bottom branches to rush for the top of the plant creating new future budd sites. You then proceed to add more and more ties to the plant bending it into whatever shape you please. The main goal is to expose as much of the plant to light as possible. Don't be afraid to bend your plants. They can take it. Always make sure you use something called a counter tie though when using LST or you risk pulling your plant out of the ground. A counter tie is simply a tie placed near the bottom of the plant that pulls it in the opposite direction of the one bending the top. Hopefully this will be helpful in helping you understand LST and its goals and uses.

Someone told me just yesterday switching from cfls to hps will kill your plant. I think maybe he had his cfls 2 inches away and then tried to drop a hps 2 inches away. Which would be stupid. But be careful. I DID hear it. Ive only grown under MH and HPS combos. Never cfls. but im going to.. cfls are cold compared to 600 hps. Watch the temp and good luck

Update:

I am still waiting on my 600w HPS from my friend. I will have it within 2 days. As soon as everything is set I will transplant take some new pictures.

It sounds like he had the light way to close. Also, my HPS is air-cooled, and I live like 4 blocks to the beach, so I get a really nice ocean breeze. Temps won't be an issue. bongsmilie

I wish temps weren't an issue for me, i live across the street from the beach but i am growing in a rubber maid box, temps hit 97ouch! This only happened once so I am hoping their are not too stressed. Looking good, CFL vegging is great, too bad you weren't going to go through the flowering process too :( +rep

April 18th 2009

I finally got my 600w HPS last night! I also transplanted the girls into 1.5g pots and watered them.

Today is the first day with the new light and the first day of flowering.

All pictures are from 04/18/2009

The last two pictures are of the Northern Lights.

Enjoy:joint:
