so i was rippng my 3' roor when a [cfl] lightbulb went on above my head! i figured out how i could give yall some visuals! i took the sim card out of the phone i use now and put it in my old razr and took pictures with it! they're shitty quality but atleast they're something... keep in mind, everything you see here is stuff i already had. this is not where near everything i'm going to eventually need

almost a full can, about 90%

20w fluorescent tube i had laying around

old fog lights converted to fit light sockets

2 light sockets with supporters

a power strip and timer. notice its already set to 18/6

i got a picture of the trashcan, but it just didn't want to send so i looked a little harder and found the same one, just a newer model... its diameter is about 17.5 inches at the bottom and its about 32 inches tall at the top of the lid

all the CFL's you see here are 13w stand-ins. i'm making a wal-mart/geek-squad center run later in the week, because i wanna do it all at once, and i wanna make sure i know what to get. while i'm there i was planning on buying 6 y-splitters, so each of the supporters can have 4 bulbs instead of 1. also i'm planning on buying 8 23w CFL's [4 for each of the supporters] and 2 42w [one for each of the fog lights]

with the tube and the fog lights, i was planning on building some sort of adjustable lamp with a fog light on either side of the tube. and with the supporters, they will be fixed about half-way up on either side of the can

also, i was planning to build a frame of 2x4's to fit in the can. i am doing this so i can have something sturdy to attach my lamp and my supporters to. luckily for me my neighbors are remodeling and have a dumpster full. a gold mine =D

i was planning on using either 3 90mm or 2 120mm exaust fans with 4 1.5" passive intakes on the four "corners" on the bottom of the can... and whats better for exaust, a fan or a blower? a blower seems like it would let less light in, but a fan seems like it would move more air... input?

i know i just threw a lot at you guys and i know i must be kind of annoying, but i don't wanna do anything wrong... so give me your thoughts, critique, and your opinions....

alright i finished about 90% of the build, i've done everything i can do for now. i've painted the inside, put a little bit of mylar up [all that i already had], a built the lamp and i've installed all the lights. all i need to do now is figure out how to organize all the wires, intstall the exaust fan(s), and buy stronger lamps. right now i have 4 13w but eventually i'm gonna put in 4 23w and 2 46w.

i'll post pictures later, i'm too tired to bother with that right now..

this the view from the outside. no wires coming out yet as its not finished yet

top view without the lid. thats my homemade lamp. ghetto, i know...
2mosa46.jpg

this is the lamp. thats a 20w fluoro and 2 floodlights altered to fit cfls. i will soon change those 13w's to 46w's (before i start groe)

this is the top view without the pot, notice the mess of wires.

with the pot. later on, i will add y-adapters to those sockets with either 4 23w's or 4 46w's

i am pretty much done, but i still need to figure out/do 4 things:
-i need to buy new bulbs. either 6 46w's or 2 46w's and 4 26w's
-i need to buy/install exhaust fans and intake holes
-i need to figure out how to orgnize/clean up that mess of wires
-i would like to figure out an eazy irrigation system, as i will not be able to access this can everyday

give me your thoughts, critisism, input, and critique; good or bad...

after doing some research, i've decided on using 2 hempy buckets. do y'all think i'll need to worry about the run-off of these interfering with the lights/wires?

yes, just get all the wiring off the ground. Depending on where you live, that sucker is going to get HOT. Also, from what I can see you don't have any airflow at ALL. These girls NEED air to flourish =D

Well once you put your fans in post pics , would like to see . I think you may still have some heat issues . But put it together and make a test run with lights on for 24 hours and check your heat.
Keep us posted and GL

Haha i can't decide what is more suspicious a plant growing out doors or a trashcan with a bunch of wires sticking out of it. I can definately see your trying to hide this from someone or someones.

well i haven.t put the fans in yet, and i'm putting 2 120mm or 3 90mm exhaut fans in. but i live in georgia, and its still about 60-80*F here... but in less than a month it'll be 50-70*F

and you are very much right, my significant other doesn't approve of the idea of the production, but loves the idea of the consumption... and i just wanna spend less money....

but its waay in the woods behind my house... about 200ft, which is gonna suck for buying extension cords... and i'm going to buy them also so they don't get seen or chewed on by animals or something

and btw my friend bought a new digi camera and sold me his old one for the price of his lunch. so from here on out i will have somewhat better pictures

does anyone have any idea on remote/auto-watering device thingy that would work well? should i just get a huge resevoir and set up a drip system because thats all i can think of

after some research, i've also decided on changing the fluorescent tube i have in there with a UVB reptile 10% UVB lamp [like this one http://www.reptilesupply.com/product.php?products_id=182]. i haven't seen anything to suggest this is a bad idea, but if anyone has any personal experience with UVB and has and advice for or against it, hit me up. [i'm going to be running along with the other lights 18/6]

also, does anyone know if the "smell2" CFLs work? they say they neutralize smell and i can understand they work for normal rooms, but wll they cover the smell of my girlie in mid-flower?

all the sunlight can do is help; if the sun goes down your lights are still on so the plant gets the correct amount of hours every day, just more intense when the sun is up. It might kinda look like a spotlight at night though, I say either or. Lights are more stealthy (if you consider a silver garbage can in the woods with extension cords running to it stealthy =P)

damn dude are you serious?

you want bud that bad your gonna grow outside in a trashcan

to each its own gl

i'm just doing this to keep my mommy alive til next spring. as soon as its fully built imma take a clone from her and just veg prune her until spring rolls around. amd thats the same spot i grew this past summer, so i'm confident it won't get interupted

if you are serious about it here is one thought...get a roll of 12/2 romex wire and the end plugs...wire up the plugs and you will have a 250ft extention cord...just look for good plugs and tape the crap out of the connections with quality 3m electrical tape...good luck on it
