Well, After hours and hours of research I finally built my growbox. Initially started with a Cardboard box, I decided it was way too crap for my grow. Now I found a Kitchen cabinet in the garage and turned that into my grow box :)

I am currently using 6 x 15W 5400K CFLs. They were cheap, So I got them. I am waiting for some 2700K to come through the post and also waiting to find some cheap 20W 6400K. Remember, being in the UK has some disadvantages to some things.

I have 1 big fan and 1 small one. Both intake. I did not need an exhaust, since the back has a big enough opening.

I have 6 lights. I may go and get 3 more light fittings and make 9 lights sooner or later.

Medium - I am using some Seed and cutting soil mixed with 50% perlite.

My seeds (Barney's Farm Blue Cheese) are currently in the germinating process, in between two plates with damp tissue (Verify this is correct)

Pictures :)

As of now it all looks good. You may either want to add more lights, or get some with a higher wattage.

Yeah I am looking for some. Just over here in the UK it cost £8 ($12) a bulb for 20W at 6400K. I have 90W but the lumen work out pretty high, pretty decent bulbs. I could ship from US. but shipping costs make it more expensive :( Who'da thought you'd have to pay so much for a little piece of glass and plastic ey.

yea, i would definitely try to get a couple of hundred watts. I had a barneys bluecheese in my garden but it went hermie and I threw it out. it had a leak so it was all my fault. From what I understand, it is a pretty forgiving strain that isn't a huge yielder but is pretty easy to maintain. I would say it's cool to veg under those lights but when flowering, you're going to want something a bit heavier

Cheers for that. Yeah that was the initial plan. I will get 3 more light fittings. I have 6 2700K 20W bulbs coming through. I'll get 3 more bulbs so all in all it comes to 180W. I'm sure that'll be enough for a first grow. Maybe when I have some more money I'll invest into it more.

cool man. I'm subbed and can't wait to see what happens. CFL has a lot of haters around here and sometimes they are proven wrong. I'm subbed for this one. Happy growing!

Bro, I honestly would love to get them. I made a thread about these. The seller won't ship to the UK. and won't even allow messages from me to ask. :( They are so cheap but I can't get them :(

Need some help! Planted my seed in my pot of 50% Perlite 50% Soil. Do I put it under the light now? Or do I wait until the surface is broken? :)

Temperatures were way too low with that big fan. Had to turn it off. I was around 17C! Hopefully this should bring it up :) What temperatures am I looking for for the seeds?

Okay so after turning the large fan off and monitoring temp, it came to 35C! So my way of dropping it was to tape up the intake slightly so there is less airflow
Heres a picture of it, now my temps are 29C exactly and its constant :) But one quick question. What timing should I use? 20/4?

check out my grow, they are pretty similar. i have 7 seedlings under 52 watts and they are doing fine.

your lights look really dim in your pics. is that just the camera or editing?

anyways looks good so far. did your bean pop up yet? if not give it time. it had a root so it will grow. sometimes people put the bean in upside down and it takes a little bit for it to re adjust itself.

anyways like i said check out my grow. if i can get 7 seedlings to grow daily on 52watts you can definatly get one to grow under 100watts

Lights look dim because of the exposure drops when it's bright. otherwise you wouldn't be able to see anything. they are bright. And yeah I'm just hoping it finally comes out :) haha. thanks for the reply.

I love cfl's they do take abit more work imo ( constantly moving the lights within range) I use 250w 6400k clf on each plant during first weak of veg around 2 inch from plant and you still see them stretching to the light :(, then straight onto hps.my lights are on 24hrs for veg

subbed

p.s if you have a spare bit o cash get a twin temp/fan controller. i use a smscom and its fantactic. my first grow temps were ridiculus all over the place. plugged one of these in and within 30mins then temps were stable with a nice constant air flow

My temp is at a constant now anyway, I should be cool. My plant finally broke the soil after 36 hours :) Growing pretty quick, but soil dries up very fast.

They're on that shelf to bring them closer to the light.. that shelf can come off and the bottom come off two, giving me about just under 1 meter. Enough space for a little grow I'll probably end up scrogging it.
