ZaraBeth's Blueberry Grow

After soaking in water for 16 hours, some seeds had cracked. So I moved them all to a wet paper towel.

These seeds are at least 7 years old, maybe older, just sitting in their original pack inside a mason jar at room temperature (in a dark cabinet). It looks like they are still good seeds.

Why do you use the paper towel method to germinate? I soak my seeds for 4 days in tap water then straight to a soil medium and BOOM, 13% successful germination rate.

The seeds and a temperature monitor are sitting in a plate on top of a 4-bulb T5 fixture that is providing light below for rooting clones. I have only 2 bulbs in the fixture. I've got a black plastic pot over the plate to block light, and the temperature monitor says 75 degrees.

The seeds germinated very nicely, and I planted them last night in Rapid Rooter plugs and put them in a dome under T5 lighting. Pics are forthcoming in subsequent posts.

One of the seeds cracked in such a way that the cotyledons emerged instead of the tap root. I've never seen this before. I gently removed the seed coat with tweezers and planted it. It kinda looks like a little maggot. :)

Good luck with the grow Zara, I hope they all turn out well. Keep a close eye on them from week 3 in flower, a lot of DP's fem blueberry herm at this point and beyond.

I transplanted them into 18-ounce Dixie cups tonight.

The grow medium is pure ProMix HP.

I have some leftover Advanced Nutrients Connoisseur (Grow A B and Bloom A B) my dad gave me to try and it worked pretty well last grow, so I'll use it again this grow. It's advertised as PH Perfect so I won't be adjusting pH at all. I'll also use AN VooDoo Juice for root production.

I fed tonight at one quarter strength of Grow A and B and VooDoo Juice.

The plants are coming along nicely.

I'm so excited to grow something new for a change. I had gotten into a bit of a rut growing the same 4 strains over and over. They were good strains, but it's time for something new. I've never tried Blueberry, and I can't wait till harvest in the spring. Some phenotypes cure to lavender blue.

Looking good Zara :-D
Blueberry is still to this day, one of my favourite strains. I've grown most of the blueberry's out there and some fine crosses. If you like this blueberry, try out big blue from BC Seed co, it's blueberry x original northern lights #5!!

Here's a pic taken tonight. I fed them this morning with a quarter strength solution. AN says to ramp up the nutes slowly on seedlings.

I can't flower 4 plants, so I plan on keeping the best 2 when it's time to transplant. Right now that looks like it'll be the 2 plants on the left.
