Dude, do you not read my posts or are you on pain meds?

I just said that even iraq didn't work until there was a timetable for withdrawing troops and a political map to fix the underlying problem. Until that happened there wasn't any progress.

Do you think it was a mistake to pull out of vietnam? How about reagan pulling the marines out of beirut? Was that a mistake too?

lets just start with killing the bad guys, i think that should be the first thing we try

the way obama has it now, if a taliban sniper shoots at troops then drops his weapon, they are not allowed to engage that target

taliban peeped this early on, as anyone with half a brain would, and they have been just dropping thier weapons to exploit this redicules rule they are asking our boys to live by

so whats so hard to see about that abe?

its just logic, its when you let emotions get in the mix, thats how wars are lost, in fact insurgencies base thier entire victory strategy upon this simple fact

Again....it's not the way obama has it. It's the way the generals have it. Read the rolling stone article....

obama is the president, he tells them what he wants and they tell him if they can deliver it. im guessing this is why mchrystal got the job from obama over general petreus at first

Same shit went down in vietnam P.
Bad guys run from one house to another, Our guys still had to engage the house the bad guys ran from..
Seems a tad stupid and a waste of our soilders time and effort.

You're right....if we had just shot enough of the 'bad guys' in vietnam, they would have forgotten about that whole independence, get the fuck out of my country shit and we would have won.

I would just like to point out that even guys like John McCain(among others, even really conservative guys... I saw this on Fox News of all places lol) who did not want to see McChrystal go, said that Obama really had no choice in accepting the resignation because McChrystal as a Military leader must not under any circumstances show any form of disrespect or hostility to the public sector. It's just one of those opinions MhCrystal should have kept to himself or at least away from from the RS reporter.

Also, although Colbert Report is not a serious news spot the guy who wrote the article did an interview on the show; He wasn't really out to get anybody as much as he wanted to bring more media attention to the Iraq/Afganistan conflicts.

At the risk of stating the obvious...The problem with the military is they kill innocent people. Killing people that have never harmed you can be rationalized, but it sure isn't very nice. Fire them all and stop bringing death overseas and debt domestically. It's that simple. The U.S. spends almost half of all the world's money spent on "defense". That isn't a "defense budget" it's a world police budget.

Maybe Obama should have kept his campaign promises and withdrawn troops instead of keeping the same Secretary of Defense that GW Bush had and continued to kill people. If Obama is the commander in chief then he should share the responsibility of some of the deaths.

The middle east wars used to be bad, what happened?....now that Obama is President nobody seems to be protesting them.

If people had elected Ron Paul we'd be done policing the world and on the road to economic recovery, instead they elected a guy that is continuing to kill people ANd bringing record deficits. The worst of BOTH parties rolled into one.

)"]Wish we could eat burgers and not get a heart attack

Fact is life ain't perfect and without war eventually the mean people on this earth will kill and enslave us all,

Although it would be unpleasant if you had to kill 10 babies to save 1000 you would be a coward if u didn't kill the ten babies even though it is wrong and they are innocent and don't deserve to die

Fact is, if a democracy is what ends up taking hold there and progress it would be worth millions of their lives considering how many would suffer and die if this cycle is is allowed to go one for generation after generation

When we rationalize killing babies under "bringing freedom" there's something wrong. The situation you set up as better to kill 10 babies than 1000 assumes that is the only possible circumstance. Wouldn't it be better if NO babies died?

Do you remember the Viet Nam War? Captain Calley killed babies during the My Lai massacre. That war was purportedly to keep South Viet Nam free. We never should have been there in the first place. Sound familiar?

Cowards kill babies, whether it is 10 or 1000, no innocent child deserves to die in a political war. The wars the U.S. is involved in today are not about freedom, they are about money, control and yes, killing babies. We are not "defending freedom" in the middle east, but we are killing babies, lots of them. So who are these evil people you speak of ? The cycle of U.S. intervention HAS continued for generations, is it possible that trying to run other people's lives has lead to some world problems?

Whether he said it to get fired is not the issue..the fact that he would say something and allow his men to do the same borders insubordination...We are at war and for him or his men to speak openly like such is truly crazy. Anyone who spent anytime in the service realize there is a chain of command...You never break your chain of command or speak out openly against your chain of command...Now if you are told to do something that you feel is wrong and could harm you/others then you still have avenues to address such concerns, but it is not to a damn magazine... His behavior does what for the enemy ????? It surely does not help the American cause...If anyone understood the UCMJ they would know that what he did was dead wrong....period... end of story!!!!!!!

Well I'm an arab with lots or friends in Iraq and we are damn well glad for the sacrifice for freedom overthere

Your living in the past this has nothing to do with Vietnam I'm so tired this obnoxious Vietnam generation who have fucked more shit up for us than they have fixed

Do you guys know what a useful idiot is?

Lenin called them "useful idiots," those people living in liberal democracies who by giving moral and material support to a totalitarian ideology in effect were braiding the rope that would hang them. Why people who enjoyed freedom and prosperity worked passionately to destroy both is a fascinating question, one still with us today. Now the useful idiots can be found in the chorus of appeasement, reflexive anti-Americanism, and sentimental idealism trying to inhibit the necessary responses to another freedom-hating ideology, radical Islam.
