Your yield on a HLG550?

lenseless reflectorless cobs rock..easily as good as led panel imho

it has taken a year to really see this..i actually ignored my cobs for a few months while in panel frenzy mode..jk

the uniformity of light distribution over the canopy and closeness ..i agree will allow for less

led/cob watts to need to be used ...ie 3ft x 4 ft light grids over 4 x 4 areas

smaller size light grids must use height and more watts to cover the area..like HID

Nobody can flower 1000watt in a 3x4(or just few members here).Maybe a 600watt hid that will have a lower part output. And you can have same or better ppfd from 300watt of that configuration.Or use 400watt and be near a gavita 750watt de

Grams per kW/h of electric energy used.
will kw/h account for the total cost of elect used to grow a flower ?

If I veg for a month and flower for 10 weeks
vs
If I veg for two months and flower for 12 weeks

will kw/h give a total of all the electricity used for the entire grow of each ?

Just the shitty 3590's About 1.5 years old. Running the boards as hard as they will go I guess.
I have no meters, I know none of the math you guys speak of, I don't know how to read any of the graphs you guys study. Im just going to run off gardening experience I guess. Hopefully turns out well.
Same here the charts and graphs just confuse me more or I can't relate them to my light's. I'm running 5 Citizen 1212 at 1400 my in a 3x3. I know my ppfd is low epically the outer edges of my tent.

I agree with you, definitely can put the fixture closer than 22”.
Really? how hot does your room get with your 750 watt cob fixtures? Im completely surprised how warm 750 watts of cobs and 2 600 watt boards run.
Show us a pic of your 750 watt cob, must be a beast!

Yes, that's the idea.

Like what's the PPF of a 1212 run at 50w?
To calculate the PPF without an integrating sphere, you need to find the LER (lumen efficacy rating) and the QER (quantum efficacy rating) (either on spec sheet, or read below for approx values for white leds). Or if you know the umol/joule output at a given current level, you multiply that by the wattage.

You take the efficacy at your drive current and divide by the LER (for a white current gen LED, this is around 320) to get efficiency

Then you multiply your wattage by the efficiency to get PAR watts

Then take your PAR watts and multiply by the QER (for these leds, usually around 4.8 to get your PPF output.

Gen 6 1212 at 50watts should be around 2.15mmol/W so if you are using 5 of them ,250 W of light will be:
250×2.15=537.5 ppf
537.5/0.81 (surface area of your tent, in m^2)=663.5ppfd
Consider reflectivity loss (-10%)=597ppfd
So, your ppfd should be around 600 but if your light does not evenly cover the canopy, you will have higher ppfd in the center and lower at the edge

Thanks this helps a lot! My spacing not completely even but close because my tent sucks in a good bit.

I don't know yet, but if it was 550 grams you'd be murdering it i think. And if the 600 did 600 grams fucking hand jobs would be in order to everyone. I mean thats just me though. Your thoughts?
That should be fairly easy to do if a man has experience in filling his space correctly and growing in general.

I don't use the 550 but I do use 2x 260w kits giving 520w and 570w at the wall, just looking at the figures they might be slightly higher on the umol/joule. Which puzzles me somewhat considering they used to be $285 per kit (now $325) which is cracking value in comparison to the 550.
Anyway my best with that side of my tent is 956 gram dry (4 plants per 4x4) which is 1.67gpw or something. Im Talking what you guys over there call vendible
I was hitting 0.7 on average with my 600s.
But that makes the lights sound like miracle workers and there is more to it than that.

I used to run 3x 600 hps in a 4x8 and run 3 crops staggered. When I switched to first cobs then also QB kits I also increased pot sizes, switched to cloth pots, reduced from 3 crops to 2 crops which allowed me more veg time and did more training, mainly the addition of more super cropping and staking some of my colas horizontal to further fill my space.
When I was running HPS I could of fitted a plant or two extra in there but I didn't want more than the plant count I had, so I wasn't running my space to its full capacity. I also used cooltubes so I factored in the reduced foot print and had space wasted.
Overall I would say that since switching to led I have made more efficient use of my space been wall to wall but with fewer plants where when running HPS I was been very inefficient and I'm not talking electricity. I also increased my effort as a grower and stopped been a lazy bastard.

Anyway dude I only hit reply because I saw you talking about using LED yourself and was surprised, I cant wait to hear what you make of them.
Always enjoyed your comments
P.S next time in the states I will pop round for the hand job.

Ok make sense.. just got confuse how his boards were 520w and pulling 570w at the wall.. my kill-a-watt is showing 519-520w and I was trying to figure out where he measured to get different watts anyway its clear now thanks
