Your thoughts on Spawnbags??

i just wanted to hear about some peoples experience using them, pics, commentary, whatever. i'm planning in getting 10bags for a 8pack of syringes im getting soon. not too shore on how long a bag takes to fully colonize, and not totally clear on how many cc i need to pump into each bag ive heard 5cc but ive heard of other amounts that prouduce better results.

Spawnbags are wonderful and frankly are the only way to produce spawn in any amount.
Were I you however, I would not work directly with spore syringes if I was dealing with bags. Liquid culture in any form (either germinated spores or dispersed tissue) is far better for this sort of work. You can put as little as one cc of any sort of carrier into your bag but 5 to 10 ccs is superior - you don't want to use up all of your spore water on this when you can innoculate all of your bags with 100 ccs of lc.

If you are careful, you can shake the bag quite thoroughly and so your time to colonization is always about the same, it is the same as colonization of quart jars as well. I don't think I have ever encountered a bag in 82 degree temps colonize in more than 10 days. I am uncertain where you are getting your bags, are they pre-filled? They MUST have an injection port of some sort, you can make one yourself pretty easily if you are filling your bags yourself. That is the cheapest way, bags cost 50 cents each and an impulse sealer is about 60 dollars.

I prefer glass jars for spawn...simply because I don't want to chase bags around when its grain time...I always have lots of mason jars on hand...but if you are wealthy you could ignore the cost and hassel of re-bagging every run....just my .02

i was going to buy spwan bags from http://www.midwestgrowkits.com/grow-kits.html its 2 bags for $20 and if you buy anything over $49 shipping is free. so i was thinking about buying 10bags for $100 and a 8pack of syringes for like $70 and having a fairly large mushie grow. do you know where i can find out how to make the liquid culture? im gonna get this started in about a month or so and am now in the process of gathering all the suplies, 10 56quart tubbaware containers, 5 aquatic fish heaters, some paralite and a couple of cfl lights so i can induce pinning when the time comes and various other shit also. My goal is to spend no more than $400, so i can have maybe a pound or so of mushies every month and a half. any advice??

Do them yourself, you have more control and you don't have to rely on someone else. As I said, bags are 50 cents, sealer is well under a hundred and the grain is about a buck a pound, 50 cents a pound for popcorn. Your pressure cooker is about 80.

I just need some help.. I used to grow mushrooms, but was never very good at it, lol I kinda just half assed it and fucked up all my grows every time.

I need to know basically a good source for spores. I need to know what all I can just buy from the store. Like I could get syringes there right?

Also one more thing what is inoculant? And how do I go about putting it into the mad bag? And how do I sterilize the bag? So I pressure cook it or is that even necessary?
