Young plant leaves funky

So this is a buddys plant. He has two which started the same time. The other is growing strong. This one has been stunted and the leaves look withered. He's been watering when dry about every 4th day. He said he does mist the plant? I don't do any such thing to my plants. Could it be from misting the plants with water?

The white splotches??
They look like, the start of powdery mildew. See if it rubs off. (outside the tent)
If it rubs off, its either powdery mildew, or salt residue. Wash your hands.
But IMHO, it looks like mold starting to form.

I dont like foliar feeding, at all. For this reason alone.
Foliar feeding, can also leave salts, water, residue etc. Under a bright light, this can heat, dry, and bleach the plant.
I like the old school approach, of giving everything to the roots. Same as yourself.

Other than the possibilities, the plant looks fine dude.
Not too bad at all.

Thanks i thought the same thing. Ill let him know. Looks fine the other plant he has does the same thing foliar feeds but not the same problem. I thought maybe weak genetics. Ill see if he says it rubs off. Thanks

One other question how does salt residue build up?

Because the ppm of the foliar feed increases, when the water evaporates, under the light. Once the water's all gone, its just salt left behind.
The salt then sucks moisture, from the leaves. Dries, yellowes, bleaches etc.

Does this more commonly happen only during foliar feed? Or can it result in just feeding the roots? I kinda see something similar happening with my Hawaiian Skunk. A couple barely noticable white spots on leaves. Defiantly not mildew wont rub off. More of a discoloration.

They do circulate water around. Im pretty sure its called Transpiration. This is how plants get their nutrients too.
The more root mass you have. The more you can water, and feed.
I like to worship my roots.
Imho
