You have the right to stay out of jail

Be careful with some of this, some states have wiretapping laws and you have to ask permission to film or record. Check your local laws before attempting to know your rights.

isnt it kinda weird though that we allow civilian officers to do pat downs/weapon checks on non detention stops? if a cop just wants to ¨talk¨ and no crime has been committed, why is he/she being allowed to check for weapons? i thought they just wanted to talk?

i believe they are called one party states. as long as one person within the conversation knows its being recorded, its legal to hide the recording device from the other parties involved in the conversation. two party states require all those being recorded know they are being recorded prior to the recording taking place.

I love my state. The only time required to show id is if your driving. You can walk and open carry and not have to id. No one says be an asshole to a cop. Exercise your rights or lose them. People need to wake up and realize this country is becoming a police state. Stand up for YOUR RIGHTS!

So let’s talk about the first question: can you video tape the police in Florida*? The short answer is generally yes, if you are in a public place where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy and you are not interfering with the lawful execution of any legal duty being performed by the officer.

The second question is less about the law and more about principle: should you video tape the police? That is really a personal question that only you can answer. While you may have the right to video tape if otherwise in compliance with the law, it does not mean that an officer will not arrest you and you will have to spend a night in jail if you do. Yes, the charges should get dismissed, but you may have to spend a night in the slammer and deal with the hassle and cost of dealing with the matter. And no, you probably won’t be able to successfully sue the police.

well, if police just keep harrassing those who film them, maybe we should start filming with drones instead. then they will have to decide to chase the flying camera that they cant reach, or do their fucking jobs on the ground.

get my kids air hogs out and camera them up. kep it about 20-30 feet up and i could be right over the action without interferring or being fucked with. might need a little more than an air hog, but the good electric helis at the hobby shop will definitely do the job.

Its good that people like Winterwoman care enough to try & educate others as to their rights but personal rights or property dont mean shit to a cop , im from Detroit & asking a cop if your free to leave will instantly get you yanked out of the car & handcuffed , any questions posed to the cop like why are you handcuffing me will be treated as resisting arrest & you'll get a swift knee to the nuts, then while your laying in the street saying owe my balls you get a taser to the neck, because you rolling around from the drop kick to the nuts is seen as further resistance , thats real world .

The 1st thing kids need to know is there is nothing you can say to keep from going to jail if they want to take you so shut the fuk up at all times.two yrs ago my son found out the hard way & got 2 front teeth knocked out & tazered for asking a cop why he was being detained , asking cops any questions only makes them suspicious or enrages them .

Precisely nothing! I've been to law school and trust me I can't talk them out of arrest or detainment. They are not lawyers they are enforcers. Be kind to them it's a very nasty job and they are going to carry a broken psyche for a very long time over it. Just shut up and follow instructions and hope it ends soon. Better yet think of outdoors as a form of theater and do your best to play your part well.

For example I play the part of old granny when I'm out. I don't usually get a second glance. Oh the assumptions our schematizations make :) OH MY! LOL so if you are attracting police attention you are not playing the part of your character well or you have chosen the wrong character to portray while you are attempting to hide in plain sight. So stop the load transfer and clean up your act.

Finally other than identifying yourself and complying with their requests within reason, identification, car documentation etc... shut up and had them your attorney's card. All professional gansta's have their attorney's card, right? RIGHT?

I'm trying to find a lawyer that is bar certified in every state... Ya know, just incase. That way I won't have to carry 50 cards with me on road trips. "One second officer I accidentally handed you the New Hampshire attorney card, let me find Delaware."

Ahhh my young padawan :) you are feeling the force. Look sweetie :) just commit federal crimes then you only need 1 federal defense attorney. It's just easier and ultimately cheaper that way. Saves you all the small kerfuffles of local enforcers. It's also easier to swim professionally with the feds.
