lol i think ghs and their little strain hunter shows are a joke!! plus they are going to remote places and giving the locals hybridized beans which will muddy the gene pool they claim to be trying to save..arjan goes up to giant seeded plants saying how good it is and grabbing on the buds and just yanking leaves off lmao i do not endorse these fools

strain hunters is actually very interesting.you dont see any other "breeders" doing what they do,travelling to new places looking for something new.
plus all that hiking they do is fucking hard graft, they definitely put the work in.i dont really know too much about their strains, coz i havent grown any,but those documentarys they make are worth respecting them for, atleast a little bit.

I have to say as a company ghs is great to work with. I buy my seeds off them, as I cannot maintain a contant grow and clone. Their customer service is what got me ... once I placed two orders in the same day they CALLED me asked if i made a mistake and if i still want both?(I decided to try a new strain after i order a trusty old friend and was ready to take the double shipping hit) I say yes, so they combined the order and swapped the 3 seed packs for 5 seed packs to cover the double shipping charge, and a few papers thrown in to boot! It was a nice surprise, and I came out way ahead.

as for the show, i enjoyed watching it, I just hope that they provide some of the pure stains in their catalogue ... I always thought it would be fun to give an unaltered strain a go.

As for mudding the jean pool? sorry ... but the whole world has the internet, and access to hybradized seeds, local farmers are doing that for themselfs. Its nice that they are attempting to save the strains..

So I have watched the videos and found them neat at some points, dumb at others- the one in Columbia with Franco all coked up at the end was the funniest but I would have shit my pants around all those cartel members! I looked through all these new beans that Green House came out under the "strain hunters" name and laughed. I was expecting some crazy Colombian genetics, some killer Swazi genes to mix things up, some Jamaican strains would have been interesting, maybe something new from India or some crazy strain from Morocco. Instead we get handed Salmon Creek Big Bud x Trainwreck and boring things like Skunk/Kush crosses or haze crosses.

If you go to the Strain Hunters website and look under the landraces, its empty and I thought this was the whole point of their travels. IMO this is all a gimmick to sell more beans to people who dont know better and get caught up in the hype. There is nothing "landrace" or original about them unless you consider el nino, super lemon haze, or Salmon Creek Bid Bud a landrace? IMO, What a joke.

One last thing- GH could have used this chance to re-gain support again with this project. BTY- where are all these regular seeds? Isnt that what GH was supposed to do with this project? These were GH's words- "The library gets richer and richer Arjan, our competitors dream of what we have, dream. It's going to be embarrassing soon." lol.

I've never grown green house seeds. But my buddy did buy some, got some King's Kush, nugs had nanners on em. Only buds i've ever seen with dried nanners. Tasted great, but when you hear a company produces garbage then see the buds with fucking nutsacks all over them it kinda leads one to think.

Could it be the grower? Sure could, but evidence of garbage genetics is all over greenhouse's resume, the dude who grew it has only ever supplied me with great product except for this one nanna infested quarter. It did have a nice grape flavour though ;)

Edit (after investigation) :
Ok its here YEH!!! I was about to go and order it and then I noticed the flower time! has any one else noticed that its 8 weeks in or out? I can clearly remember being told god knows how many times at the cup that it was a fast flowering strain that would be ready from 5 n half weeks from flower, That was the main reason I liked it and voted for it! As I thought 'YES' this is nice especially for a flower time like that,,tho I did think that a few were far better tasting I decided that because it was nice and its flower time that this was by far the one that would have suited my purposes, so I voted for it, tho sorry I would not have if not for the flowering time, anyway hey its out now and cant make it flower faster,lol.. just confused as I say,
Haha but you are often confused
kidding

Fr the 6 weeks flowering, you did hear correctly, it is something reachable with the FBK when she is grown at 100% of her potential and in hydro. That's why we are not advertising more on that fast flowering, because not many growers will be able to reach that goal with their setup but the ones that will do will have a good surprise
while the rest won't be disapointed by a 6 week flowering strain going for 8

I hope you will have a great grow with them man!
So it was all bullshit, they bullshitted there way to another cup win and got votes based on exaggerated claims. Imagine that, guess I will just continue on shitting on them. Since they don't have a fucking thing worth trying and constantly lie and cheat their way to awards like scumbags.

I don't like to rage here but this shit bugs me. I would have bought into their crap too when I started if I didn't search their name first, we all know what it's worth.

I was hoping to see a bunch of landrace regulars when I opened up SH's on Attitude. I did not see any. I am disappoint.

I also thought they were pieces of shit for handing out seeds to locals where landrace genetics are still living. But of course, if they can kill the landraces and they're the only ones that still have them, they can make shit loads of money if not now but certainly in the future.

As far as I can tell the "point" of strain hunters is mostly self-promotion, on the part of GHS (not that there necessarily is anything wrong with that).

The fact is, most of the "exotic" landraces simply aren't suitable for either indoor or outdoor growing in most of the USA, and the best of their genetics have largely been commercially exploited already. For the overwhelming majority of personal and commercial growers, hybrids are better choices.

Arjan and Franco can go on about how awesome it is to pick Columbian Gold beans off a FARC-controlled mountain, and sure, it makes for compelling TV. But the reality is that not only that legit CG genetics are available from other breeders, but GC genetics were fully exploited and hybridized into a more user-friendly form over 30 years ago (eg in Skunk #1).

I agree about Nino and SLH, but FWIW, Salmon Creek Big Bud has been grown outdoors via open pollenization in Nor/Central CA for over 20 years. As crazy at it sounds, that arguably does make SCBB an American "landrace" at this point! It mostly depends on what your definition of a "landrace" is. But if you mean an outdoor grown open pollinated true breeding strain acclimated over many generations to a particular geographic location, SCBB probably DOES fit.

Yo dudes i'm the same, pretty damn sceptical at there antics around the world are they collecting rare landraces and preserving vital genes for future breeding projects (which other breeders have also done just not shouted about it) or is it just a Publicity stunt..... either way i wanted to do some investigation as to why they have released the strains they have and not the landraces we are all wanting to see... well i found this from they're forum hope it helps ya'll

---- Quote took from the strainhunters forum the post was by the site Admin.
Hi Guys,
I can confirm that both Caboose & Damnesia will also be released in the Strain Hunters Seed Bank in a few days.
Due to a little set back which we cannot go into much details about, the landrace strains as seen in the movies will be released later.
For the launch of the Strain Hunters Seed Bank we will first release Feminised Hybrids, followed by Landraces, Autoflowering and Regular seeds.

One of the Strain Hunters Seed Bank goals is to preserve the landraces that are collected by the Strain Hunters during their expeditions. Ultimately these landrace genetics will be available for anyone to purchase at the Strain Hunters Seed Bank.

Afgooey, Big Tooth, Caboose, Damnesia, Flower Bomb Kush (the 2012 High TImes Cannabis Cup winner) Money Maker, White Lemon & White Strawberry Skunk will be the first strains released in the Strain Hunters Seed Bank catalog. These amazing Hybrids have been tested and are stable. Other release dates will be announced shortly.----- 'End of Quote'

So something came up and they will be released soon... so when that time comes i'm sure this thread will get bumped.

Peace

Anything affiliated with GHS is a no go, IMO. They are well marketed garbage.
I also don't understand the mentality of "They dont look that great, but I'm going to try them out anyway." Buy shit from ACTUAL breeders that excites you.

Lots of people talk shit online. Although Green House doesn't have very many defenders :)

They are cheap, which is the only reason I was willing to give them a chance, but when they lie about flower times get people excited about a 51/2 week strain then come out with an 8 week strain with NO MENTION of 51/2 weeks it's turns me off.
