Ii have some big plants and I am wondering what I can do to help protect them from the wind. Any ideas, or do I just hope for the best? These babies are 6-10 feet tall and nearly as wide. Is there anything I can do?

add poles to the ground and tie big branches, tomato cages, net around it. Get creative what type of stoner are you?

What he said, tie down and hope for the best, might be 80mph storms but you will be suprised that plants like this can take it. Foriegn debris, hail and other falling larger trees are your real issue.

Good luck and get ready personaly, flashlights, fill up cars with gas, water, fill bathtubs to help flush toilets. Generators are cheap but will be all gone once the storm hits. Food, try to set yourself up to last for at least a week without power or water.

I know the weed is important but you and family are also.

Oh I almost forgot, crown royal and beer.

Thanks for the advice. This isn't my first hurricane. I stayed thru Charley, and it got pretty interesting. I am well prepared for my personal safety and I am going to stay on the mainland until it passes. I have never had plants to worry about before though. I will stake them as best I can and hope for the best.

Tie down a tarp over them, and rock that down......
Bend the over might also help....

Tie all side branching to main stem . but not to tight. if in buckets tie the bucket and mid way up the plant to a large tree. been there done that!

Well, I came out pretty good. It ripped the largest plant limb from limb, but I taped it back together this morning with gorilla tape. It is still raining pretty hard. When it slows down I am going to try to brace it back up. All the others are fine.
