Yellowing stems?

Hello all. I've learned a great deal from this board. Now I need some help. Very small grow, more of an experiment this time around as this is new to me. I am using the aerogarden, aged tap water, fox farm big grow 1/2 strength. I don't know the precise PH because I haven't gotten my meter yet. All I know is it's not above 6.8 which is the lowest the cheap test kit I bought reads to. I'm about 3 weeks from seed. I keep having this problem with the leaf stems turning yellow. The lower leaves that are full of brown spots I think because the first round of nutes were too much. Any thoughts from looking at the pic?

Ph is a must in hydro, an incorrect ph will not allow your plant to take up the nutes efficiently including some nutrients like nitrogen, which may be your problem. So i am guessing that may be your problem. Juest try to keep them alive man
