Plants are Northern lights, and Blackjack week three Flowering. HPS 400W. Water about every 4 to 5 days. Not all the leaves look like this, but several lower fan leaves are in this condition. Fox farm ocean forast, three gallon pots. Bud sites look great, lush green and starting to sparkle. Is this normal, do I have some nasty bacteria? I used some fox farm flowering nutriants my last watering, but that was the first time I gave them anything other than straight water. I followed the fox farm directions for the amount to use in the water. Really, that only seemed to make the buds grow like twice as large in about 36hours. This problem existed before then, I do have really hard water and I use a water softener. I don't know what the PH of the water is but I am going to get a test to test it soon. Anyways any suggestions, solutions, or probable diagnostics would be great.

Thanks!

i use bottle water, I'd check the p.h . i get a leaf from time to time that turns yellow just not that funk u got on it. if the rest of ur plant is looking good i wouldnt worry just yet.
I might go a little less on the nutes in one watering cycle.

How long have the been flowering? I see this a lot in the mid to end of bud cycle. If it just entered flowering it looks like nute burn from a ph problem. If the ph is not right then the nuts rock up in the roots and they dont get any of the good stuff to the plants.

Being mostlylower leaves, this is not TOO much of a problem. BUT.......

Looks like a nutrient deficiency, rather than a mold problem. As you stated you have "really hard water" and "don't know what the ph is".

More than likely you need a good flush to rid your root medium of excess salts. Get your self a GOOD ph measuring setup. Average best flushing ph I found is 6.1. Flush the medium well.

After, I would feed them a mild dose of flowering nutrients (looks like either Potassium or Phosphorous deficiency). Then, progressively work your way back up in potency.....but erring on the light side of nutrient strength is always better than overfeeding them. Overfeeding can literally stunt your plants for a week or more if not careful. You hurt the roots, you hurt the plants. You stunt the plants in the last few weeks of flowering, and you literally cut your yield in half.

Sorry, I have been out of this game for a while now, so diagnosing the exact nutrient that is deficient is not so easy right now.

EDIT: I just saw this link.

I have been flowering for about three weeks. I am getting a ph tester. Where is a good place to pick one up? I am going to flush with purified water next watering. Bud sites are really dong nice and not discolored at all.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I am surely going to make sum changes my next watering in about 2 days. I am going to water/flush with purified water, and I will add the ph tester to my collection of goodies.

No problem-o for the help. Only thing I love more than smoking....is growing. Can't wait till I can get sh*t going again.

You should find ph testers nearly anywhere. Even Wal-Mart? or other department style stores with a gardening section.

You should find GOOD ph testers at a gardening specific store.

As far as the leaves that are going funky, clipping them before they turn moldy is a good idea in my experience. Often you can just give them a little tug and they will seperate from the stem. DON'T RIP them off. Trim them with scissors if you like.

Just keep an eye when you have necrotic leaves. They can lead to mold, particularly in/around the buds where air can't get in.

I think you should be fine.....but post back if you have more issues.

Sorry to ramble, but I just Chonged the king daddy of 9th generation roachers................ahhhhh buuuuuuuuhhhhh:dunce:

Definitely bookmark that deficiency link. It has alot of good info, with advice/solutions as well.
