You have a bit of a ph issue get a cheap ph pen usually around $25 and flush with 3-5x the container size straight water @6.5 nice and slow. That miracle grow is always problems. Or you can just flush with jugs of water at supper market if you don't want to buy pen.

If I can't find a pH tester locally I guess I'll just have to flush with jugs of water. So would I be better off watering with bottled water and distilled water instead of tap?

A pH Pen or the drops is a necessity. Also, if you are using tap, be sure to let it sit in a bucket 24 hours before using to allow any remaining chlorine to evaporate.

Yes bottled water like Poland springs is usually in the 6-7ph range so you will be safe with that. It just is not cost effective. Make sure you only water when the top 2 inches of soil is dry. Depending on container size could be 3 days or a week. Pick up the pot and notice weight onced watered and when dry.
