XGS-190 or RW-150- knock me off this fence

Quick question about 2 rw 75's. So my tent is 24'x24' and the length of 1 rw 75 is 12'. Can the sides of the lights touch the tent and each other? I emailed area 51 and havent heard back for a couple days.

I've emailed them on leadtime and will place my order today as long as it's not too long.

If the Onyx had a multi-use control it would have won likely, but I got a feeling I'll end up owning some down the road anyway. I have a 5x8 tent to grow into and this is just the start of the fun. Might even try my hand at a DIY when life slows down a bit! Thanks again everyone!

They exhaust air out the sides. I would tilt them at a 30-40 degree angle. The RW-75 is supposed to cover almost a 2x2 area. Angling 2 in that space should give you better coverage (instead of more light reflecting off the sides of the tent).

Appreciate it - it definitely is a tough decision, but likely no really bad decision in the mix! Placed my order for 2 RW-150's based on the excellent feedback and that they'd ship in the next 10 days. If I had another set of veg lights, I might have went with the Onyx, but the flexibility of the RW was more important in the near term.

As a side note, I asked and the RW-300 won't likely be available until next year.

Have to chime in and say I finally got my RW-150's and I'm very impressed... I don't have a benchmark other than T5HO's though...

I was on the fence as well and finally went with the RW lineup given the flowering focus and the red spectrum boost over the XGS. Another factor was the efficiency claims (proven?) floating around that it was producing just as good of results as the XGS... But man are LED's thermally superior to T5's for sure... and of course all the other goodness that has been proven to go with using LED's... That 40w less was a consideration for me given that I was dealing with heat management challenges for my small space...

When I emailed A51 and inquired on what may motivate you one way or the other between the RW and XGS one point that was given was that the XGS might control stretch a little better with it's spectrum having a tad more blue... in my case I think I'll just hang some 2' T5HO strips with veg spectrum bulbs during the stretch and then swap those out for UV perhaps or leave a little blue in the mix during flowering (that's fine right?) and only UV for the last week or two... still have homework to do on the UV front and what is 'best' as a complement to LED...

My curiosity is what will replace the current lineup from A51... that's always the downside of finally making a purchase... there's always the 'next' model... only question is how long are you current...

Tell me about it. LOL when I made my first purchase the xgs was new and unknown. Multipass had the furthest along grow. Then not long after getting the xgs what? Talks of the RW. Then I get the RW and kinda wish I had two. Then bam 300s and shit on the site. Its like Jeff keeps fucking with me "I know what b you really want but here take a taste of something else." LOL. Kinda wish I had two rws instead of the xgs. Though over time that opinion may change. Perpetual would probably be good for me. Start under XGS side and move to RW side as maturing. Actually not sure why I never thought of that until now.... hmmm. Lol

I have 2 RW-75's in my 2x2 tent and they fit just fine with no tilting of any kind. 12in x 9.5in. It's basically half of the 150 which is 18x12. Put the 9.5in sides side by side and you're good.

Nice thing about Area 51 is that you can upgrade your light for $250. (I assume the smaller RW-75 is less.).

True. And the modularity was a key point in picking them...
Well, I like to steal a good idea when I can and had already asked Area 51 to change my order from 2 RW-150 to 4 RW-75. Should give me better coverage options and flexibility with a small premium - and immediate availability. Waiting to hear back from them on that option, but believe this will compliment my RW-300's in 2015 nicely! :joint:

In the near term, I can use both my T5 6 bulb fixture (324 watts) and these RW-75's for more flower power. Plan on centering the T5 over the canopy (with red bulbs) and having the RW-75's angled above to the right/left of the fixture for better penetration. Any thoughts on that?

(Jeff needs to ship my lights soon as I keep changing my mind on approach in the efforts to optimize!)

Well, I received my four RW-75's today and I just gotta say I'm extremely impressed with the quality of these lights. Will get them set up in a grow configuration tomorrow - as I'll be starting my first grow in veg tomorrow with clones that are ready out of the cloner. Will start a new grow thread for that when pulled together - just wanted to close this one with a quick first impression! Thanks everyone.
