either way your gonna end up with gobs of juicy buds so be stoked! My girls are finally starting to show off the goods so I'm far from the happy days just ahead for you.

You may not need total darkness to increase the thc production, less light may achieve the same thing on a smaller scale. My plants were moved away from the light so they were just over a foot away the last two weeks and I saw a increase in the frost. I didn't test any complete darkness, because of the bud rot I had previously. It may just have been the natural cycle, but it would go by nearly the same theory.

I have no idea what to make of this.
rumor has it that this info is garbage and i would like to think otherwise, but hey..dunno.

"The Stichting Institute of Medical marijuana (SIMM), the first company to sell marijuana through the pharmacies of Holland, has been investigating the medical possibilities of cannabis, together with TNO laboratories and the University of Leiden.

One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for
72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."

I put a plant in the dark my last grow, just to to try it out. I left it for 3 days, which was long enough for the bud-rot to take off. Luckily I only lost part of the cola, but you may want to put a fan in your dark area if you have a dense plant. It didn't look much different as far as resin production, by the way.
old post but still useful info... dehumidifier anyone? seems like a pretty easy solution.

i grew ww 2 times, and 2nd time i left it in the dark for 4 days , zero difference to be honest, some strains 'seem' to like it, others just laugh.
