ww first time grow

hi guys first time grow that I want to share with everyone get some feed back and as much advice as possible!
started off from seed 6 ww and 6 afghan kush x ww (chose these because of they're reputation to not be prone to mold and rot) planted all in plastic cups used the old film over the top to keep the humidity in had a sprout after three days then put them under 300w cfl. out of the 12 all bar one were fine there's always one runt lol

after two weeks I started on the nutrients as its my first time I really wanted everything to go smoothly so didn't want to rush them they started to really grow after the first feed because they were pretty big I used half the recommended and they loved it!

I had them in a closet in the house but they were kinda getting too big so I put them in my tent set up will be 4x600w hps 6" outlet and a 6" inlet tent is 8ft x 8ft

broke one of the cfls so I put them under 400w hps but they just seemed to be too big for just the one so I put them under one 400 and one 600 they are bushing out and over a foot tall I want to let them get as big as possible for as much of a yield as possible I was thinking maybe taking them up to nearly two feet don't know what you all think of that?? if they double in size or even triple that would be a maximum of 6 ft would I be ok with being a ww they want to grow up rather than out so want to maximise as much as I can

my plan was to let them go another week before putting into flower so let me know what you think? just starting to show they're sex seen the first white pistols today.

soil used a mix of perlite vermiculite and pietmoss, 3.5 gallon pots with around 3l of just perlite at the bottom of each. temperatures are currently between 71/77 depending on what the weather was like outside had a little issue with the humidity but all sorted now didn't have a large enough extractor. having nutrients (ionic) every other water.

for some reason only let me stick up a couple photos but on the left is the ww and on the right is the Afghan kush

let me know what you think and any and all advice would be much appreciated!! It's my first grow and am looking for it to go as smoothly as possible thanks to this site and many nights reading I'm getting there slowly :bigjoint:

do you think I should let them grow until around 2ft then flip to 12/12 I want as much yield as possible but don't want to run out of space. the tent is 2.4m x2.4 x 2 m high. also I don't know if this is me just being paranoid but do you think my fan leaves are a little dropped some seem to be to me but ain't had a second opinion on it really.

thanks in advance!!

How much are you watering?

Plan for doubling during stretch. This is not to say that all strains will double but its good to plan ahead so if you flower at 2ft expect 3.5-4.5ft plants. Once you know the strain better then you can really judge when to flip for maximum coverage.

are you watering when it dries off until you see 10-20% runoff or watering a little every day?

I'm waiting until it's completely dry and then using just below 2l per plant probably every three days or so but I have been really cautious because that's all I keep reading is newbies messing up due to over feeding ect. think I'm going to hold back on the flip another 6 days should be ready then.

thanks again

Water them until you see a tad of run off man. Don't go by measure, go by feel! Haha..
As for letting them dry out, it allows good oxygen but I only do it 2-3 times over the life of the plant.
Just after they go into veg
Just after they go into flower and
Just before I flush them before harvest.

Who knows though! Maybe I should do it more! Haha.. But it works for me! I'm week 1 flower atm, and my plants are getting
A 3 day feed cycle
1- feed
2- ph'd water
3- nothing.

Otherwise, your setup looks great, and your plants look healthy!

How spread out are your lights? Id be running all 4x600w's by now if you aren't already! Haha..

thanks man!!

I think that's what I've been doing wrong but to be honest I was a little worried about the auto pots and the cloths at the bottom since planting them it's been playing on my mind that the water can't escape but I'm going to let some run out see how I get off. only reason I've been letting them dry out is because of over watering really I've done so much research and trying to take as much precaution as possible until I know exactly what I'm doing.

I've literally just put another 600 on making it 2 600s and a 400 I've put them all on one half o the tent.

thanks again man keep tuned going to update the thread as much as possible see how I get off

so day 33 since planted and 30 since germination plants are looking healthy but I think I might have had the lights a little too close amazing how fast they grow!! couple of the leaves at the top seem to look burnt at the tips and are kind of curling to one side??? see on pics. put an extra 600 in today seem to be growing pretty big so they've got the 2x600 and a 400 in there as well. also noticed had a couple of nats in there going to get some stickies of the local only seen 2 but can never be too safe!!

still think I'm going to run them for another week since topping (4 days ago) the new tops are coming through so want to let them develop before hand. temps still looking ok 73 humidity levels 64. going to light flush into next week just to get them ready for the bloom and flip over also let them have a little dry out going to take melb92s advice and just let them dry out just through transition periods.

couple pics too
let me know what you all think

As a new grower I would suggest waiting until its dry on the top before watering. I stick my finger in the soil a little and make sure its about an inch dry and then water until 25% runoff.

In this hobby underdoing I'd way better then overdoing.

Youre killin' it bro

I go no water for 3-4 days (5 last run) then the day before I water (when transitioning into flower) I go 24h of darkness aswell. Kinda helps reset the plant haha..
