i'm obviously new to growing and already having problems. currently grow in the closet in a propagator with 2 compact florecents about 1ft away from the plants. i started with 3 plants all are bag seed 2 from some perp and the other just some bomb reg. they were doin fine in the begining then 1(perp) plant started looking weird kinda like the one in the first pic then it died. Now the other perp plant's doin the same thing one round leaf is kinda drooping and the developing leaves coming out the middle look like they're burnt. my other plant is actually doing very well so far, only thing i have to say about it is the tips of the true leaves are starting to look yellowish. please reply any help given will be highly appreciated.

Are you feeding it nutrients? what ppm? Are you ph balancing your H20?

OK, at this point the plants could use some vitamin B-1.
A tsp. per gal.
B-1 is pretty cheap,$2-3 a quart. you can find it at any nursery.
Get them into soil when the roots pop out of the rockwool.
Superthrive is great for seedlings too. $4-5 a small bottle.
Unfortunatley your going to have to shell out some cash, but when you harvest the glorious herb, you'll be glad you did.
Kellogs' makes a decent organic soil, $4-9 a bag, depending on size.
Fox Farm Soil is one of the best, but is rather pricey. UniGrow also makes a good soil. I'd stay away from soils that have pre-mixed chemicals in it.

I believe "anyone please correct me if I am wrong" that you should soak your rock wool overnight in water that has been ph'd to 5.8. This they say, ph balances the rock wool. I have not grown out of rock wool for awhile, so I am abit rusty on the ph, but look into it, I am sure it will be easy to find a post on it...Gl

They are not cheap! When I bought mine, I purchased a 3 in 1 meter for around 180. PPM,PH,Temp. It is a bit bulky, and I would like to have a pen style PH meter also. If you have multiple reservoirs, then moving the 3 in 1 is kind of a pain, because you have to have an power outlet available, and the cords end up always twisting somehow! Search the net, you will pay between 75-125 bucks for a good pen style..Seedsetc.com offers free shipping and pretty good prices..GL

My seedling looked just like yours. Does anyone know what the problem may be. I was thinking in my case it might be heat but the box didnt feel all that hot. I was growing in soil (low quality). Plant never grew beyond its first two leaves with just the tips of the next two poking out of the center.

While a newb myself, I feel as if I can add something. While the general consenses is to have the lights 1 to 2 inches away from the plants. I have to disagree somewhat. While I do not have the ideal situation either, with the plants for me that close burns the plants. I do have a heat evacuation problem I am working on. Never the less, within 4 inches burns them for me. I keep them at 5 to 6 inches and they are doing just fine. All I am saying is, you have to work with what you got. Every opinion or rule or thumb here is not set in stone, you do have to be a little open minded and pay attention and do what works best for you and your plants. There technically is no right or wrong way, just what is ultimate ideal circumstances and all of us cant necessarily achieve that. Be open minded, take all these peoples advice, they will steer you in the right direction. But you need to weed through the information(no pun intended) and make your own decision as to the right course of action for you. I have plants that average 95-100 degrees F when lights are on. And they are thriving, maybe not as well as they should but being my first grow, I am not really complaining. If I could keep my plants within 2 inches, I certainly would. HTH.

thanks alot for all the advice rkm. well here's the update, i rounded up $10 and went to the store this weekend and bought some soil and containers they didnt have much options for soil all they really had was the miracle grow brand and so i got a bag of their moisture control potting mix. it says it feeds the plants up to 3 months and it also aborbs more water to proctect against over/underwatering. Unfortunitly the little perp is out it didn't even make it till Friday night so now im left with one plant. but man is it growing it's doing so much better now with the help of everyone's advice so i thank you all. After i moved the light closer it did much better the leaves started coming out more and the new leaves dont have any yellow or any other defects. Then when i put it in soil it really kicked things up and now it's growing a little faster!! Hopefully i'll be able to get that ph tester pretty soon cuz in know once i get it i'll be able to aid my plant in its growth even more.

they are probably too wet or cold. bring your lights to 2 to 6 inches to the plants. if there are no roots visible, peel away the excess rockwool and get them in some dirt. make sure they are not cold or hot. superthrive is loaded with vitamin b and it doesnt take much. fox farm is great but cannabis usually eats all the available food in it within 2 weeks not a month like claimed, so you might as well mix your own and start with a mild nitrogen fert such as a kelp or seaweed fertilizer. for a premium custom soil i suggest different mixes depending on your irrigation and frequency. i usually use sunshine4, coco, bog peat, vermeculite with greensand and perlirte for drainage and airation (for a soil witch will stay wet for a while for less frequent watering). and for a drier higher performance, more frequently watered soil i would use something other than the sunshine4 because it has a high moisture retention. black gold organic or whitney farms, a lot of perlite, greensand, and a really rough coco sometimes

UHHHH huhhhhh, thats a bit much for a newb to comprehend and understand. I dont know if you are just repeating what you have read here or through experience. But for a first grow, lets keep it simple. For the most part on a first grow, lets let nature do most of the work before we start throwing all the tech stuff at it.

You really shouldn't have gotten that soil. Cannaboss told you not to get soil that had mixed in "chemicals" which i'm sure he means "nutrients".

It Can and probably will kill your plants. If it doesn't, your lucky.

well its been 5 days since my last post and i thought i'd give you guys the update on whats happening. The plant seems to be doing fine i think its growing kinda slow but there's still alot of time left so i'll just see what happens. As for the soil i got it because it was my only other option at the time and i was in a rush to get ANY soil.
