Canada To Vote On Legalizing Recreational Marijuana In 2017
On April 20th, Justin Trudeau announced in front of the UN that he plans on legalizing marijuana in Canada.
And Canadians may be voting on this issue sooner than expected.
People keep thinking that it will take forever to actually get marijuana legalized. But here are a few factors that may speed up the process.

1. If we were the first ones to legalize weed, we would need a lot of time to figure out exactly how it should be done. But luckily, since legalization has been so successful in other places such as Colorado Washington Alaska and Oregon, then we can just model most of our decisions on what they did, making it a far more achievable goal.
2. The legislation is set to be presented in Spring 2017 and as of yet, there doesn’t seem to be any delays. Leading journalists in Montreal to speculate that the vote will take place as early as the next 15 months.
3. We have a great amount of support from people who want to smoke some legal Canadian weed in their lifetime. Namely Tommy Chong who is arguably the most famous pot smokerin the world. Chong is a very outspoken marijuana activist who supports legalization. He even credits pot for curing his cancer.
4. We have support from non-smokers as well. You’d think that only people who smoke pot would be interested in legalization, but the fact is that even non-smokers love the idea of legalization. It means more taxes, fewer arrests, less money wasted and a richer country over all. Plus nearly a million people who don’t smoke pot claim they might just give it a try if it were legal.
5. Finally, one of the biggest reasons why Marijuana will be legalized as soon as possible is simple. Trudeau made some bold claims when arguing in favor of legalization.
He said that decriminalization cannot be the solution because it only makes drug dealers’s lives easier and puts the youth at risk. He claims that legalization and regulation is the best way to keep marijuana out of the hands of the youth. So if the vote doesn’t come soon enough, then Trudeau, according to his own words, would be actively putting the youth of Canada at risk.
“The fact of the matter is we’ve been clear. We believe in legalization and regulation of marijuana because it protects our kids and keeps money out of the pockets of criminal organizations and street gangs,” – Justin Trudeau
So if everything goes according to plan, legislation will be presented by Spring 2017 and the vote will take place before the end of 2017.
