WTF happened to the Warped tour?

Maybe I'm old now, but I seem to remember a punk festival in the old days. This year was plastered with flappy hair boys in super tight pants! Oh, and 70's like gym shorts. WTF? Those were an implementation of oppressive institutionalization. The people who wore those used to beat on punks.

There were a few decent bands if you can filter out the whiney pussy pop shit kids call punk these days, and the Old School stage had a decent lineup of geriatric rockers who still got it crackin (I never thought my 13 year old brother would EVER get to see The Germs play.)

I got serious issues with the security too. Watched a kid get mobbed and beaten by security assholes because he wouldn't stop dancing during the dickies' set. At least his friend knocked one in the face and ran away. THAT is reminiscent of the good ol' days LOL.

It's kinda funny watching my youth refined, marketed, and sold to the "individuals" of this new generation at $30 per "Independent Trucks Logo" belt buckles... bwaaha!

seriously... and the warped tour isnt the only music festival selling out

BONAROO?
KANYA WEST
AND METALLICA AS HEADLINERS?

never heard of those jam bands

and totally feel you im only 20 but i can still remember getting the warped tour compilation cd and it was the briggs, the street dogs, flogging molly, mxpx, so on now its "emo" "hardcore" bullshit and gym class heroes who i did have respect for untill i heard there last album

everything and everyone is for sale and in the last 5 years the whole rock/punk/metal scene have collided and created like 20 subcategories and millions of tight pants wering gay haircut having lookalike bands

early afi = favorite

but ever heard of davey destroyed the punk scene by anti-flag...

Yeah early AFI was pretty awesome, nitro years all the way. But warped tour sucks so much, last time i went was the last time NOFX was on it, and even that was emo youngster scene it was weak. I miss it. but out in colorado is punk rocks, red rocks ampetheater with all classic good punk bands if you are anywhere near that...

Haha you're totally right. Haven't been to warped tour in like 6 years. It's all pop/punk/emo/screamo bullshit. That's funny about that anti-flag song though. Like they can compare to AFI... days of the phoenix!!! Man haven't been there in a while either...

I wish mxpx could've played at warped this year. I was just mad that pennywise wasn't there through the end of the tour.

I blazed all day there. The bands I liked were All That Remains, Reel Big Fish, Rise Against, Seedless, Love You Long Time. I also saw Katy Perry, Shwayze, Ludo, and The Academy Is. But that was more a function of "well I'm here so what should I see"

I went to the first warped tour and even though Im not to much into the music these days that is/was still one of my favorite "shows". Had tons of good bands, even got to see sublime on that one though at the time I didnt know any of their songs.
