These are some bag seed i popped and through in some ocean forrest soil just feed 1/2 strength fox fam trio. They are under a 400 watt hps with vented hood and good fan temps around 70-80 depending on time of day. The ph going in is 6.5 using tap water ive let sit out for a day or two. I know im not over watering them so what causes this the first pic is green and dull green not yellow but dried out crunchy

400 watt hps about 5-6 inches my hand does not even get hot and the top leaves look great thes are just on the first few nodes. And i have never nute burned a plant i use the same feeding schedule forever this has happened before and the plant grew fine just funny leaves.

Even though your light is close it may not be heat stress related, it could be the light intensity is too strong for it. I would suggest raising a few inches just to try and rule it out... ?

In FFOF soil i wouldn't be feeding my plants until 4-5 weeks. The soil has plenty of nutrients to feed the plants until then (IMO). I only use seaweed extract until then and cal/mag because i grow under LED's. Veg and Flower under LED's currently but i am going to start vegging under a 8 bulb T5 setup(mixed bulb Spectrum with UV) for a faster turn around. Going to have a veg and a flower area.

How are you measuring your PH? Solution or digital meter?

In my experience, FFOF is very hot. My first 2 unsuccessful grows were due to using FFOF with their nutrient line. Completely baked my plants. If I were to ever use FFOF again, I would use the soil as a standalone solution and wouldn't use their nutes unless well into the flowering period. It's simply too much. Without knowledge of the feeding capacity of the strain, using FFOF with nutes is a recipe for what you're seeing with your plants.

If you're dedicated to soil, take a look at some supersoil recipes. SubCool makes a really good one that has given me some great results in the past. You can find the recipe easily online. His recipe is scaled for large scale grows, but with some simple math you can scale the recipe to smaller grows.

Another option is to start in a very light soil like Light Warrior, then move to Roots Organics, then move into Super Soil for flower using Roots Organics as a filler soil. Had really good results using this approach.
