Like I said before whatever you read will help you about 5% the other 95% is learnt from hands on experience in other words learning from failure so it doesn't happen again, this cant be learnt in a book. So get growing so you can learn the hard way, its the only way.
I personally couldn't agree more. It's like anything else, it doesn't take long in any of the industries I've worked in (Engineering etc) to tell when someone has experience rather than just "book learning" (to cite Ricky from the TPB).

Learn as much as you can before for the technical stuff (soils, nutes, lamps, spectrums, temps etc), then when you understand all of the different options, get in, get dirty and ask questions if you have problems :)
