Would this work for a resevoir chiller?

That was weird. No, it was not there when I saw this a few mins ago. You had just posted it, though, so maybe that was it? Dunno.

It's there now.

That said? I'm no expert. Sorry I can't help you! I'm just here to learn myself.

Take care. Hope you get the answers you are looking for.

The iceprobe works well for SMALL reservoirs. I did a lot of research online before buying mine and got mixed reviews, one thing to keep in mind is that this thing is a MINI 50 watt chiller. It drops my 4 - 5 gallons of water by up to 10 degrees (Plastic, with no insulation).

You can also add 2 of them. If you go this route i recommend getting the temp control module as well, it only supports 1 Iceprobe, but it keeps my temps perfect at 68.

This thing also produces heat (As any other "Cooler" does) so ventilation is important.

Hope this helps.

Do you still think and reco a chiller and heater even if you in a climate controlled room? Is it better to be safe then sorry? In a stealth box 6' x 3' x 1'-6"?

I had only done a little research on chillers and glad to have stumbled across you guys! I am definitely going to check into this product further since I am sick of tossing cold stuff in my res.

Even if you're using a climate controlled room, the root system should still be cooler than the room (As this is how it would be in nature anyway).

68 is the target temp for hydro water :)

thanks for the replys fellas....much appreciated...woot..where did you get yours from?...i read alot of mixed reviews on it also...well if it works this decent for you then i should give it a shot..since my rez is only 10 gal...however...what are your grow space dimensions and such...and what kinda lights you use?...how hard does it work?...and is it noisy?...sorry for throwin all of these questions on your plate...thanks

Will it work in a 40gal rez? Is it ok to throw ph'd ice into the rez or is too much of a shock to the roots?

I actually picked up the chiller off ebay, but i found it cheaper from AquariumGuys.com - Freshwater and Saltwater Aquarium Supplies after i had already bought this of course..

I'm growing in a very small space 3x3 closed off except for 3" air intake (bottom of enclosure) and vented from the top into a scrubber. I'm only using a 250 watt MH/HPS, however ambient room temps tend to stay around 78 - 80 and my reservoir isn't insulated.

The temp controller i have is proportional, so as the temp rises it slowly adds more power. Even at MAX power plugged directly into the wall it makes minimal noise.

Of course if one chiller doesn't do the job, you can always convert a cooler into a resevour or add a second Iceprobe :hump:

40 gallon res is way too big for the iceprobe.. you will need a much larger chiller..

Every case will be different depending on Ventilation / Reservoir size / Ambient room temps / reservoir insulation / type of hydroponics..

And i would avoid getting ANYTHING frozen near the roots :)
