Would this DIY dry box work

OK I've got a brainstorm. if you could make a box kinda like a speaker box totally sealed up, made of wood of course untreated, drill two 4" holes on both sides of the box for ventilation. Intake fan mounted in hole, would be at the bottom circulating the air, and exhaust hole will have a homemade carbon filter attached to exhaust fan. Only one thing I see being a problem, like the wood box would it affect taste? also would like to run refrigerator gaskets around the top for a good seal, would like to be able to open it from the top to have lift out screens 1/2 in apart for fruits to dry, thinking of the screens that were in windows if that's the case that will be the measurements of the box. Hell sittin here thinking of it. it souds like a cross between food dehydrator and a small fridge lol. This box would be practically cost free if you have the materials, if not scavenger hunt where they are building new homes and search the dumpsters lol if money is that tight:mrgreen:
