worried about rootbound again

So here we go again switched to 12/12 6 days ago.yesterday before water I carefully lifted my plant out of her pot to inspect roots.and what I found was roots everywhere all around the pot and the base some was running side by side at the base.so now I'm worried their bound and dreading the outcome they was potted up 3 weeks ago into 20 liters from 9 liter pots.i left them 2 weeks in new pots before switch waited for roots to come through bottom of pot.the thing is their holding water for five days before they need a drink and I can still get my moisture meter to the bottom of the bucket with ease.so I think they have just gone out and filled the outer bit of the pot and not filled the center.am I just being over paranoid or do I need to pot up I went through this last time and everything went ok but their different strains this time so they may need bigger root mass any help or info would be great thanks in advance

feed em less yo!

i know for a fact how much my ladies take in liqud each day.
u should really get to know that before u start flooding them like u are
5 days is FAR to long to have water/nutes sat in ya medium, it should have been asborbed by roots or evaporated well beofre then, ur temps should be 28 dude, and if u switch to fabric pots then your roots will simply grow thru the fabric and airprune.

hold bakon the feeds, wait till the pots are light as air or even till leaves start to droop, then feed 1 litre per plant and if next day shes drooping feed 1.5l and if shes still dropping up to 2l then if she stops, u know u feed that plant 2l a day and u know she takes 2l a day, so if she takes less u have issues.

fabric pots, never worry bowt rootbound again

NEVER heard of watering everyday in soil I water wait for soil to be feather light then water again so I been told that's how to do it. I water until I get some run off so I know medium is completly saturated then leave them dry . the nutrients are organic so they not instantly absorbed by the roots so they have to sit I the medium to be broken down then used by the plant.

What you described doesn't sound like a rootbound plant. Mature plants are supposed to fill the pot with roots. It isn't considered rootbound unless there are dead or rotten roots impeding the grow. Sounds to me like a normal plant. Next time you harvest take the time to look at that plant's root system. Then you will realize what "healthy" looks like. I know this is a newby board - me and other OGs circulate here trying to help the beginners. Good luck, BigSteve.

If you want to never worry about root bound plants, try cloth/fabric pots. They're so cheap now and reusable that they're competitive with plastic pots unless you get them for free somehow. I switched to them about a year ago and would never go back to plastic. It would be almost impossible to get root bound plants in fabric. I've grown out a 42" tall x 24" round plant in a 3Gal fabric pot. Only thing I found with that one was the whole pot ended up roots, and was almost tippy in the small 3Gal pot, the root ball was essentially the whole pot when I took it out to have a look, no signs of root binding, just healthy roots spread out in all directions. Worth a try if you're concerned about it and the plants love it, use them indoor and outdoor.
