hey, guys i was just wondering if there anything to worry about internet cookies? i like to come to this site alot to get great info so i can get some nice juicy tomatoes lol. so is there anything i should worry about? what about posting on this site. is there any way the pigs can trace it back to you(im sure theres not because other wise ppl wouldnt be posting, but im not a computer wiz and theres alot of stuff that "hackers" can do(?).) should i use my spy sweeper often to quarentine the little parisites/cookies?

im growing a couple of tomatoes myself and dont want to get into trouble, just want to have soem head stash. have you guys heard of proxy servers and do you use them? i havent used them just heard of them, i dont even know a proxy server site. and what happened to overgrow.com? i actually never went there because i didnt have the internet at the time but i have read posts on here how some ppl miss it because all the "OG's" were there. i also heard that the popo ended up closing it down because of big grow opps going down or something, i could be wrong though.

this is my first post actually, so i just want to say that everyone on hear is really cool, and thanks to all the knowledeable growers for sharing their experiences with us noobs. God bless!:peace:

lol,ya my tomatoes. just would rather be safe than sorry i guess. like i said i heard that people got boped from the poolice from overgrow.com. after someone fills me in on the 411 about some of my questions i think i might start my own journal or something. i would like to be apart of this community instead of just reading posts. i dont think i should worry much because im really small scale, 400w's, but would like to upgrade to that 400w and a 600w too. God bless.

you should be fine here. I believe Overgrow got shut down because the people there were being stupid and trading seeds and things like that. If you are worried about cookies then just log out when you're done and delete the cookies off of your computer (even though you will only have session cookies stored and they'll be deleted when you log out from here). And you could use a proxy server but in the end it wouldnt make much of a difference if they wanted to catch you. Youll be safe, just dont be stupid about how much info. you post about yourself

I would recommend using any ganja forum from an Internet cafe, from a friend's house, from a hotel, using your neighbor's wireless connection. The more locations you come in on, the harder it is to trace back your real location.

Proxies are a good option but most of the commercial ones won't protect you much... as legal businesses they need to keep logs and can be subpoenaed. There are all sorts of free proxies out there (usually, compromised computers that we "borrow") which work quite well, but you need to know what you're doing to use them. Google for "free proxy" or PM me and I'll send you some links.

Or you can use Tor (Tor: anonymity online). It makes your computer very anonymous, but your web browsing will also be quite s-l-o-w...

BTW cookies are the least of your concerns. Web cookies are often misunderstood and not very often a security risk. A little paranoia is healthy, too much is not required. :)

yes you should be worried about cookies ,they have info on your browsing habits,so you should set your browser to auto delete them on closing your browser, also you should hide your ip,rollitup may not store your ip ,but you can easily be traced to this site ,they will identify you easy ,if they are bothered to do so. So how do you hide your ip? well what i do is use tor in combination with privoxy which can be integrated into the firefox browser, this works similar to hollywood phone numbers ,it bounces your ip from one computer to another so when you enter a site they cant identify you ,instead of connecting directly to asite you will be bounced around first ,the cost is speed ,it can be slow at times but managable ,but when you want to resume regular browsing you can turn it off with a click.

How will anyone see your cookies unless they have local access to your computer? If you're worried about that, you better empty your browser cache file and have the data overwritten with at least three passes to ensure it's gone from your computer. Possible, but totally overkill for most people.

Cookies are very rarely a security risk. Other things (like people knowing your real IP address) are a much bigger security risk when posting to an online forum.
