Worms (?) discovered after harvest

Hi- New user and first time grower here.

I'm just now been harvesting a Trainwreck plant. While trimming, I noticed a few buds had leaves almost wrapped around them and those also had some white stuff in there that kind of reminded me of a spiders egg nest. I pulled a few open and almost lost my lunch when I saw dark grey/brownish worms about a 1/4 inch. Some of these were lethargic and some were fast moving.

I'm thinking these were budworms, but I'm unsure as I didn't see any pics posted that matched perfectly.

This was a pretty large plant outside (about 6 ft), and I only saw these instances in about 7-8 of the smaller buds. Its obviously way too late to treat the plant as it is already 95% trimmed and hanging.

I *think* I got all effected areas separated, but I'm wondering if some of these are just time bombs filled with nastyness.

My questions are these:

1. Is it likely this material is all riddled deep inside with these little bastards? Or am I pretty safe?
2. Any thing else that could be done at this point?

Thank you

Not really- it looked darker and was not on outside of plant. I only discovered them when I ripped open the several affected looking buds.

I haven't had much experience with bud worms. I have read things like - Put the buds in jars for about 40 minutes and they will (hopefully) crawl out in search of air, Hand washing with H2O2 (peroxide), pick them out manually. I haven't seen a clear consensus on what the favored technique is though. I read they are voracious eaters. Wish I had more to offer.

Hmmm, do you mean before they finish line drying?

It seems like something as small as a worm would have enough air in a jar to last days.

Does seem like they could survive much longer then 30-40 minutes. But like I said, it was just something I read. I did get the impression from the stuff that I read that ideally, you want to physically remove them rather then straight up kill them. Killing them leaves the carcasses behind. Although, I'm sure through the years I've smoked hundreds and hundreds...I just didn't know it. I don't really know man...I'm sure someone with more experience will happen along anytime with some solid pointers.

You will have to go threw all the buds and manually get them out. welcome to outdoor growing:P next time use spinosad the 2nd week of flower it will keep the moths from laying eggs then
