I have a little homemade worm farm made from those plastic storage bins. Everything has been working well. I want to take the castings from the lower level, which is now full, and my understanding is that I should stop feeding the lower level and feed the upper level to get the worms to move up there, so that their lower level castings will be abandoned. I did this, and after a week, only about 5% of the worms moved up to the upper level, including some new babies.
Does this process take a certain amount of time, or are they supposed to move right on up there to hit that yummy food? I'm just not sure what's normal. Or should I just be pulling individual worms out of the lower level castings. I want to clear out the worms so they don't get made into tea.
