Hello

a idea hit me the other night about a possible system .........but some of the founding ideas i have not seen any test or talked about (about 16 hours of combing the net)

in a DWC the water is just to hold the Nutrients the roots(as the medium) and the bubbles/O for the roots .........correct

Has anyone out there ever taken a DWC and added in a Muslin bag (do not be racist look before u judge nothing to do with it ) to hold the roots and at the bottom in the bag the air stone sits

next does anyone know of a airline connector that can freely rotate 360 and keep bubbles going ....it could be a junction with mutli i can close them off

next has anyone here tried turning the lid of the bucket 360 every 1 min it makes one turn around the lights .........hence the bag for the roots and the connector

the bag will allow free flow of all desolved matter but would hold in/back the soild.......(they come in microns sizes ....a 1 mircon filter will filter out living yeast cells but dead ones break up and pass tho .....i know this for a fact )

the idea is by turning the plant the plant does not need to choice how to grow other then fully ( all plants have a low iq and they go towards or back away from light water other plants )......by turning it the light gets to all angles leaves and spot evenly and there for should cuase the plant to bloom fuller

second the bag keeps the roots in air there is no chance of the stone moving off to one side and all the bubbles /splash force is directed where u want it the most

thrid but making it turn counter clock wise it would make a small amout of force in the water witch would make the roots flair out with the current ....along with the current utside the bag making sure the Nurtients are not settled it should keep them washing over the roots .......think of a ceiling fan in the room when u blow smoke one way sucks it up the center then push it out along the walls and vise verse

this is a working idea if u steal and patten it of me ..........atleast include the name as Amish Fucker on the design money is not really my thing but bragging rights are

Sound like alot of work and am pretty sure that the muslin bag will be a pathogen trap but give it a go. You can solve the your air delivery and rotating lid problem by simply designing/building a rotating base for your pot to sit on, job done. Good luck mate but I think 5 billion tokers/smokers (total shot in the dark) on this planet have probably covered every angle trying to redisign the wheel. But hey, ya just never know.

well see this is step one in design of a large 50 gallon system with 5 plants on a automatic system

if this can work then the next step is easy ........tho getting the plant to enter the dark with no light leak to minal is proven to be a problem

i thought about the pathagens ....as long as i stick with with the chemical nutrients and nothing orgainc in the system like that .........when i change the water and let the roots sit in open air for 5 10 mins i can change the bag..........i have a oxygen based sanitized system i use for stils .....completely bio safe just have to double rince before i fill with fresh clean water that been tho the filter and had all the work down

the extra cost and work on one unit is minal ......the auto system i will use a filter system with a uv light .....no organics

An old saying builders use is "measure twice, cut once" meaning get it right the first time to save yourself time, money and effort. The same principle applies to growing. I spent hundreds upon hundreds of pounds trying to cut corners, DIY and do it my way coz I know best. I now have a shed full of redundant equipment from projects and ideas that didn't turn out as expected.

I ain't saying your project won't work but often the simplest and easiest methods are the best otherwise all the big / industrial growers would be all over it.

Not beating you up but another issue I can forsee with your design is oxygen circulation. You roots being in a bag, will it not create a kinda solid mass of roots and reduce the surface area and ability to take up oxygen.

that is what the counter clockwise current is for

as far as i can not one person has ever tried using a rotating planter( spin around so the light gets it all even ) soil or hydro........i seen some big set ups where they move the lights around and around and around and the plant staies in place .................hell even putting a little plant on one of those spiing platforms u see in shops in a party cup nothing

and the work what are u guys talking about ........the bag is 1 foot wide 3 feet deep(it would slip right on the bottom of the lid) buck is 5 galls so that is about 6/8 inchs from hitting the bottom ........and as for the rotation i can do that with 6 or 8 wheels set right so the system (ball bearings ) then use a gear system like on a bike to set iit up with a rope so it spins it using one of the platforms that can take 25 lbs of weight ...................soil plant on that rope to gear gera to rope turns the other bucket top

total work 45 mins total cost more 119 bucks do to the platform 99 bucks for the one i found...............i been building and jerry riging stuff like this since i was a child ...........i set my whole bed room up i can sit in one chair and controll the door windows anything i want with out moving just use a string or button that is on a motor ..............i even set up a mirror system when i am in the chair i can look at the wall and the mirrors reflect to the front door see whoi it is before i decide if i want to open it or just let them knock
