So my RO filter was delivered today.... I got it hooked up and it started cranking out the water. Ok... more like dripping then cranking.... but whatever. The water pressure in my bathroom isn't the best so I got 4 gallons out of it in an hour.
I dumped the crappy water out of my reservoir and put in my first 4 gallons of RO water. PPM was 60 .... HUGE improvement over my 500 - 550 PPM out of my tap. The PH was 6.7. Then I added my nutes and the PH came down to 5.7... without adding ANY PH Down!!! That is the first time EVER the PH has come down that much after adding nutes. The high PPM of my tap water never allowed me to add enough nutes before to bring down the PH without adding PH down. I usually fill my reservoir with 10 gallons of water and my nutes say 1 tbsp. per gallon. LOL... in the past I could only put 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons. If I added more the PPM shot up to 1800 - 2000. Today I was able to use 2 Tablespoons of each (Bloom and Cal Mag) in the 4 gallons. The 4 tbls (total) only brought the PPM to 850... obviously I could have given them the full dose... but I didn't want to shock my plants.
I'm SOOOO stoaked about this!!! I can't wait to see how my plants respond after they settle into getting more food and less CRAP from the tap water.
The RO machine was one of my best purchases so far.... I can't thank all of you enough who encouraged me to get the RO machine. I would never have known how important it would be to my plants without you guys and gals. YOU ALL ROCK!
