planning a tiny forest and need to choose some lovely hummingbird/ butterfly loving colrful plants. Is the "american wisteria" a nitrogen fixing plant? like white clover? Any other beautiful aromatic bush for nitrogen fixing? many thanks.

Wisteria is a N fixing species as most pea/fabacea members are. I like the Trumpet vine for hummingbirds and butterflies too. Another favorite is Salvia coccinea. Nice red flowers. Here's a list I got off the web....http://www.dianeseeds.com/flowers/hummingbirds.html
thanks, gonna go take a looksee :) love your sig. beautiful. was criticized for planting fruit trees that i wouldn't enjoy the fruit of once and replied that great kings in the past have planted fruit trees for the benefit of the people without any thought to how it might benefit them.
