Reread that driver description. They are constant current until you hit the voltage limit. I have have never had any problems with these driver in parallel. I have built many this way over the years. Never had a problem.

thanks....i have three hooked up they are plenty bright


anyway three were 104 w. and 122.7 v

i am interested why the draw is 122.7v..unless it is wasted electricity..or is it pumping

40.9 v into each one?


what would adding another one do?

bring voltage to each at 30.x v?

do you think if i added another cob/sink ..that it would run the 36 v cobs at 30.x v for four?

or would that not be good in electricty land

i seem to have16.x v left over since 3 x 36 v nichias is 108v and the driver says 122.7 v on the killawatt

i wonder what % efficiency i am running them at 104 w and 122.7v

ok i just read at the nichia site they can take 40.7v..which x 3 =122..so i guess its maxed,,unless one can under drive the cob more by connecting four instead of three..

is it necessary to use the A version drivers for parallel so that you get the adjustable voltage so that you can limit it so that you don't get thermal runaway?

or can i also use the B version and the drivers max voltage?
no they make both the constant low voltage (ie hlg-185h-36b) and the constant-current high voltage versions (ie hlg-185h-c1400a) in both A and B versions.

where "A" version is most useful is the ability to reach to a higher range. for examples citis are in the 50-53V range which you can hit with a 48A but not a 48B. same if youre trying to run say a cxb3070 at high currents over 36V

Hlg-185-48b is just dimmable on current side?
So voltage output is fixed to 48volt or it has some range adjustment?

this is useful as opposed to using a 54V driver as it tops out at 3.86A so

48V driver = 53.5 V x 4.25A = 227W
54V driver = 53.5 V x 3.86A = 206W

you've got in terms of confusion .. a lot of things wrong .. for Constant current driver is possible serial wiring.. You have a constant voltage driver not the constant current driver .. You may use parallel wiring with them .. each COB will be a pull for example 40V .. volts value with a number of COB not count, but total current value on driver division number of COB .. voltage is the same for every COB .. You must setting on your driver on the potentiometer Vo Adj Max 40V or calculate value for volt on table for current 0,866mA .. for 3x Nichia = 2.5A / 3 = Each COB = 0.866 mA @ max40V = 33W Each

It is a combination of constant current / constant voltage. From meanwells site :

MW constant current LED power supply possesses both “C.V.+ C.C.” characteristics. During startup it will operate in “C.V. mode”, which is suitable for LED driver IC and series resistor applications. Once output current requirement exceeds rated current of the power supply and reaches the constant current region, the unit will remain in the constant current mode which is suitable for direct drive of LEDs. C.V.+ C.C. characteristics can be used in all types of LED setup making system design more flexible.

Also, all manufacturers recommend against parallel wiring of COBs. However running them at those low currents you shouldnt experience any problems associated with parallel wiring.
