from what it looklike there is a wire missing from the ballast. the a3 com and lamp wire go to the light bulb socket. the 120v is the power from the wall, but their should be just a COM wire from the ballast also. and you ground to the box youmount all that into.

    g33k Active Member

could i splice the ground into the A3COM?

    g33k Active Member

p.s. i ordered 2 of these and they both came the same way... just the 3 stripped wires.

    mygirls Medical Marijuana (MOD)

    NO don't do that

It looks like all the wire is 10 Gage but I could be wrong. After you figure the Gage and thread(thread is the copper wire itself you want to match the thread) you could go find the wire and cut it as needed and alakazam problem solved.

    i dont follow, halo...

in the picture, the 4 wires coming out of the core are 120V, LAMP, A1, A2.... the 3 wires coming out of the Ignitor are A1, A2, A3COM. the Core A1 is connected to the Ig A1 and the Core A2 is connected to the Ig A2, thats how it came.

my ingnitor only hase 2 wires coming out of it. just start with the light socket 1st then hook up the main power.

    g33k Active Member

WOOHOO! Got it... i hooked up the ones i knew (Lamp, A3COM, 120V). the only thing i had left was ground from the wall. so i spliced it into A1 and slowly plugged into wall, spark! i did the same with A2... spark! i spliced with A3COM and it all turned on. ive had it on for about 15 min. and nothing is heating up unexpectedly. hps lights are f***ing bright! ill post again if anything goes wrong.

COM = common = neutral ..... so yes you have it right....... all commons do the same thing, act as a ground. So 120 and Com go to the wall and Lamp and com go to the lamp. i am the site electrician , jk....... sorry i missed this thread! Good luck with the 150's!!

Hey Wyte (yes I know this is an old thread),

Need a little help with wiring my philips advance 150w ballast n bulb up. Can someone clarify where I hook what up? I have the following

Ballast: Two wires coming out of right side of ballast. Red Lamp wire and Blue X3 wire both going to the ignitor. Six wires coming out of the left side of ballast. The wires are 120v, COM, CAP, 247V(or 243) and 277V wires.

Ignitor: Has three wires X3 Blue wire, X1 Red Lamp wire and White X2 COM wire

Cap: Two black wires with no difference in markings or writing on them.

I am following >>>this diagram<<< and am a little confused, can someone answer the following?

I have the socket white wire going to a wire nut with the following wires all going in as well so in wire nut are: white wire from socket, X2/COM white wire, COM wire with bare end going nowhere and a COM from left side of ballast(side with six wires etc)

I have the black wire from the socket going to the red lamp wire.

    My questions are:

    1. Should the cap be wired with the cap wire(left side ballast) and the com(from either the left side or right side of ballast)?

    2. A wall plug should be attached to the 120v red wire and COM(on left side of ballast or right?)?

Thanks as I am finding this a lil confusing. Its also holding me up on day 2 of flower without my HPS hooked up just daylight cfls :(

    peaceb2usall Well-Known Member

Figured it out alone by myself :( I followed the diagram on the ballast itself :)

Hey is there any way you can post pictures on how you set up that 150w kit? I have the same kit and can't seem to figure out what goes where.
Another question, what do you mean by splicing a cable? Totally new to this so if you can help me out, you'd be a life saver. Thanks!
