Winterizing QWET

Maybe a stupid question but...

I make all my extract using 100% ethanol as a solvent. As such, if I want to winterize, is there any reason why I could not just extract - filter - refreeze - filter - dry. Point being can I skip the setps drying the initial extraction, scraping it, and dissolving it back into ethanol?

If you are extracting with ethanol it wouldnt need to be winterised. winterising is using a polar solvent (ethanol) to remove waxes from using a nonpolar solvent. Ethanol doesnt pick up enough waxes to make worth while

If there is any waxes inside your qwet they can be dropped out by chilling a solution containing your dissolved extract and a more polar solvent such as methanol or acetone, although it's doubtful your extract even contains any waxes.

Sh*t, never noticed that. i was going to buy from them next time as they seemed easier. I cant remember the site but found one that would ship 100% ethanol to a business address. Cost about $10 pint net net.

I suppose you could just make a still and then you won't have to worry about the cost of ethanol per pint because you'll have gallons :D
I made one actually with 2 wine bottles lol. I used it to take the 151 EC and make it stronger lol. I wonder if I could brew my own mash perhaps...
