Wing reflector with hood

I found a DIY for a wing reflector....but im just wondering were you guys buy your light sockets at for like say a 600 watt and 1000 watt...i was looking on ebay the socket and cord cost what the whole hood setup cost brand new...can someone point me in the right direction.. would the same socket work for a 400 600 and a 1000? would an extenstion cord work to run from the socket to the ballast? thanks everyone
