Will this light work for seedlings?!?

Hello wonderful people the time has finally come, iv'e got my setup set up and everything seems like it should be a fun experience from here on, for when my plants get bigger though. The thing is i'm starting from seed and I know that I don't need to use my 1000 watter for 6 or 7 seedlings so I did a bit of looking around a found a flourescent light with a little fixture it's a 24" with 17w and 120v. Just one light, I don't know of that will be enough for them or what? I also have a 48" flourescent thats 40watts but I dont have a fixture for it. Ideas comments anything. Thanks in advance bongsmilie

Wich one will work the 24 or 48? And What do you have in mind that would be better? I havent germinated yet so I still have time if I need to get something but if I can get away with what I have that would be cool, like maybe both together? Whats the ideal lumens or wattage for seedlings?

Well the 2 footer will work for a few if that is what you have available. It depends on how big you want/can go. You could get more smaller CFL's, or you could get a 125W CFL, or you could get a decent, small LED, or you could get a 250 MH or a 400 w MH. Up to you.

I have a 2 footer and a 4 footer, but i would need a fixture for the 4 footer but they arent to pricy I don't think.. I wanna go the cheap eaiser route if possible I guess.. How big should a seedling grow untill I put it under my 1000watt? And How big will the 2 footer get them?
