I am planing on getting a grow tent that is 7x7x7 and instead of breaking a back or legg buying expensive LED Lights. I plan on using 7 watt per bulb Christmas all red lights that I will fill the room up from top to bottom until i can calculate 1000 watts used for this operation. I am only using this for the flowering stage. the vegetive stage will be in the green house. will this idea work? or am i too high

I think you may be a bit high.

The light from the christmas light string is not intense enough to penatrate the canopy, it woulld be useful as supplimental lighting but i would not rely on it for primary lighting.

your best bet, especially since your getting a grow tent would be to do it professionally, invest in HID lighting. i found a 600 watt system for $299.00us. I would break the back or the leg to get the correct lighting, it will pay off.

If you don't want to pay big bucks for those lights just get some cfls and then line the tent with christmas lights.

Yeah, I don't use you meddling kids new technologies. I just put 200 hundred candles in my grow room. Hell, I put a campfire in there for maximum yield. Last time I got 7 pounds off one plant. Who needs electricity these days? LMAO.

those christmas tree lights guess what there only good for your Christmas tree sorry but they wont do SHIT for your grow except add unwanted heat. the LEDs work but the intensity really isn't there and the spectrum is pretty limited. CFLs do well I can tell you that first hand they still put off a good amount of heat but its really nothing compared to a HID set up, but with that said nothing has really seemed to beat the MH and HPS for growth rates and penetration, there just hot and cost a little more to run and cost more for the intial purchase but there woth the money and as with anything else you get what you pay for. I guess it all just depends on how much your willing to spend lights/ventilation leds wont put of any significant heat but they lack intensity. cfls grow good bud but the bud lazcks density unless you really know how to use them and still need decent ventilation systems but over all are the cheapest setups. HID fast growth dense buds but youll need vented reflectors ballasts and inline fans ducting and so on. You pick tour weapon bro.

Christmas lights are not a new technology, unless you are amish. I dont know why she wants to use those lights so badly. Its a waste of electricity and space and on top of that, more wires to get in the way.

If indeed each bulb is 7 watt. EACH BULB, that tells me that this is not an LED string its incandescent. So there is a no no right there. At 7 watts you would need about 24+ feet of lights if they are spaced out 6" each. Thats about 3 or less strands. At 7 watts, im assuming they would be the big bulbs, which get very hot.

If they are LED then each STRING is 7 watts. In that case you will need over 142 strings to equal 1000 watts. LED christmas lights do put out some heat as well and 142 strings would be, uhh stifling in a 7'x'7x7' room.

Why do i have to explain all this, isnt it pretty obvious?
