Will super soil work in a large pot?

Here's the skinny.

Talking to some people, it seems that for every 1000w light, a room will produce about 16-18oz if you do everything right.

A common theme in this is that the pots are all about 10ish gallons.

Talking to more people I've seen that it is absolutely possible to produce anywhere between 20-24oz under one 1000w light. But instead of 6-8 plants in 10 gallon pots, there were 4 plants in 20 gallon pots (5-6oz/plant).

These growers use the classic Fox Farm soil/nutes, and I am just really not that interested in doing that. Are 20 gallon pots suitable for super soil? I know the recipe is calling for 7 gal.

Instead of going straight 1/2 and 1/2, would it be okay to mix it in with my potting soil? Would the roots grow fast enough to go 1/2 and 1/2? Anybody ever tried this soil in a large pot?

Thanks for your input!

the size of the pot dosent matter, its the soil that is the key and as far as container size goes, that all depends on length of veg time and flowering time. I use 5 gallon pots with my SS and get plenty off it after a 2 month veg and whatever length of time it takes to flower her.
I have 2-400HPS and can get 2-4 zips per plant with my veg time. more veg time = larger yield

If all your trying for is 5-6 oz's, then to me 20 gal seems like to much. I think you could do it with 10 gals pretty easy. Sub uses 7's, and says he gets that much without too much trouble. The bigger the pot, the more room, the more veg time you CAN have. doesnt mean you need to.

Bigger pot=bigger root system=bigger plant..... shorter veg time=smaller plant, simple. veg time does not shorten. i agree with oriah 20 seems like over kill and kinda a waste of the super soil you could grow a giant in them but it would take quite a lone time in veg for some thing to fill a 20 gallon
